Round one no spriest tuning. Ele shaman and destro warlock, 2 specs already stronger than us, get buffed 5%. Just unreal. Glad I’m making the switch to a different class for the remainder of this joke expansion for shadow.
This statement is misleading for ele shaman and just false for destro lock. SP has more than twice the representation in mythic than ele and pulls ahead in heroic logs. Destro is the bottom spec in heroic and near the bottom in mythic with abysmal representation. SP looks to be middling.
Not saying the spec does or does not need tuning but putting out misinformation doesn’t help.
Representation equaling performance is the only misleading thing here.

The specs they buffed were mostly the ones on the bottom in terms of representation. Some were buffs for M+ because of their low AOE damage.

I’m fighting for my life out here trying to split my CDs out enough to keep up with everyone else while ensuring I can pop off big when the bosses come around.
Meanwhile everyone else gets to just go nuts every pill no matter what.
Compared to other specs in M+, our DPS is actually embarrassing. We’re stuck overcapping insanity and having to use GCD’s to either keep our 4 set active or using searing nightmares ( which is limited by mind sear)
That has been shadows gameplay the entire xpac.
I am glad the dev working on this spec got fired/quit because they have NO place in this line work.
M+ is where i’m feeling it the most as well. Mind you I don’t have 4pc yet, but right now I feel pretty useless in keys, which feels extra bad given the complexities of shadow’s aoe rotation. Our tier set actually makes both our ST and aoe rotations feel way worse and so awkward—i’m always insanity and gcd capped—and the payoff in terms of dps just doesn’t seem there to make up for it.
My guild mate is slapping as Shadow in keys. He’s doing like 18-19k overall now with his 4-piece.
If allowed, could you link logs or a name so I might try and replicate his success?
Requires more foresight and planning, yes. Embarrassing? Hardly.
I feel this is very dependent on the size of packs the tank can manage with your group comp and week. Bigger pulls= you get the most use for you.
True pack size makes a big difference but it also helps everyone else so we’re still weak by comparison, and very few tanks are good enough to pull that way. I think what frustrates me most is how awkward and clunky our cleave/aoe rotation is: feels like we put in twice the effort for half the outcome.
Shadow’s aoe is pretty dire tbh. Weak, GCD locked, cast while casting, overcapped on resource, reliant on talents and powers since shadow literally has no baseline aoe… they probably should give some small tweak to tide shadow over until 10.0.
That said, it’s decent enough in other content.

It’s still not /that/ bad in that i still believe it’s viable for at least up to 15 keys but I do think we could use some tweaking
Agree with this. I’d like to see some minor adjustments to our aoe before 10.0, whether it’s uncoupling SN from mind sear, adding power back to our dots/apparitions, reverting or partially reverting the previous nerfs to our 4pc tier/pallid command/SFP, an aura buff—anything really, I just don’t want to feel like a lame duck having to be carried through high keys.
