Honestly, I’m just struggling to get acceptable DPS on most classes and realizing this is a skill issue I’m looking for useful learning tools so people will get off my back. And so I can actually do content beyond LFR.
Are there like, some resources beyond IcyVeins and Youtube? Because I have tried that and it’s just not working really.
Like, do y’all have textbooks or something to read? Like, where do you learn proper priority and timing or how and when to clip casts and all that?
I’m trying to main WW Monk but I also have tried Balance Druid, SPriest, and Elemental Shaman.
Also willing to attend seminars or watch lectures or something, I unno.
I have watched endless Youtube videos till my eyes have glazed over and practiced on target dummies to no avail.

I just read my abilities and figure it out most of the time. But I’m not looking to min/max. So I can get away with doing the bare minimum.
I’ve heard Hekili addon is a nice way to learn the basics. Class Discords are also useful.

Well I’m looking to be allowed into a guild or to do like, anything but LFR at this point.
And I’m kinda sick of being treated like garbage so, just getting by isn’t really gunna cut it

That’s fair. My guild is chill, but we don’t run much higher content.
I know Monk is one of the more complex ones. Brewa might have some good ideas if he’s around here tonight or tomorrow.

Most guilds are rather chill in recruitment. Since its the end of the expansion, they should be even more relaxed and help introduce you to M+ and Normal Raiding.
I’d honestly stay away from Icy Veins and YouTube if you’re just learning the basics, since both tend to focus on cutting-edge end game content.
I have summoned thee! You have any ideas to help out a fellow Monk?
wowhead does a pretty good breakdown of their talent builds and then there is a section on rotation that helps you learn the basics.
If you run raids and log or someone else does you can use wowanalyzer to see what you aren’t doing that you should be doing more of.
Looking at comparable logs for your class/spec/ilvl also shows you their builds, rotation, and what they cast vs you.

Considering the few I have contacted have asked for raiderio info and I’m not even good enough to start M+ I kinda have a hurdle to clear or something.
Basically, I’m not good enough at the game for co-op play and I’m sick of rude LFG/LFR. The LFR/LFG experience makes the game less than desirable.
If I were you I would focus on getting your ilvl up. Easiest way to do that is the weekly Timewalking quest and just getting some 470’s ish gear from timewalking. After that jump into normal and see how you do. Right now your dps is going to suffer from a lower ilvl first and foremost. After that you could work on rotation.
I do just fine with Wowhead.
We are not the same person, and I, am an idiot. I can’t even figure out the main resource rotation of my class.
Just because it works for you, doesn’t mean it works for a lesser loser.

You asked for useful learning tools and I gave you one that works for me, thinking it may help you. I don’t know why you came back at me with hostility. I guess next time I won’t ever bother offering my aid. Cheers.

Cause I kinda already hinted at how WoWhead, IcyVeins, and Youtube haven’t worked for me.
So by saying it does for you it kinda just comes off as dismissive.
Like, I’ve read them. Many times. It just doesn’t make sense. Why do these abilities need to be pushed in this order? What are the procs and such that I am trying to utilize? How do the talents interact with each ability? Are they compounding?

Hekili is good for learning the basics of a rotation. Eventually you will outgrow it.

I’ll check it out. I was trying to use MaxDPs Rotation thing and it wasn’t really working out.
Start recording and logging. Review logs against rotation guides. Compare them to top performers logs of your spec. Rewatch your gameplay.
Also, pick 1 spec and stick it out for at least a full tier as what you play 90% or more of the time. Jumping around specs isn’t helping.

A good resource specifically for monks is https://www.peakofserenity.com/ and their discord, which are both dedicated to all things monk.
The discord community is really good at answering any specific questions you might have.

Read the mastery for your spec for a clue.
I understand we get more damage if we don’t push the same ability twice. What I don’t understand is the priority or order.
