Yeah its just as useless as I knew it would be, Theres still no reason this should be Dks new universal honor talent, and the longer we go without saying anything the more we risk blizzard just leaving it and forgetting about it until next expansion
We really should get something else that is actually helpful

Okay Ill try to be helpful. Here’s a suggestion for a change;
*Effect changes based on spec and it affects the area where your Death and decay was placed(you don’t have to stand in it).
Frost: heartstop aura effect
Unholy: keeps that necrotic effect to absorb heals
Blood: aoe cutting draining health from targets
*the exact amounts/% can be tuned of course, something much better than current iteration for unholy for sure though
The issue is that its focused around death and decay, a stationary ability
You do not want any dk design to be based around stationary abilities because literally nobody in pvp stands still
Its just a lazy excuse for a universal talent when there is quite literally so many more options that couldve been added over it instead

Would use this talent if it gave the % chance to fear for dnd.

That is just incredibly annoying and unfun for the target.
Still doesnt change that the honor talent is built around a stationary ability
Stationary abilities in pvp are almost always garbage and again my main point is universally speaking DK as a class could have something far more interesting, and universally useful than a honor talent based around death and decay

rot and wither is actually a good idea for unholy though, like it can be disruptive in bgs. ive found some use to it etc.
If that. The only use Rot and Wither has if you are dueling a Warrior, and you are playing Blood so you can get it every five seconds for free due to Crimson Scourge.
They could make it somewhat functional by changing its design, but it’s so boring. Even passives like Necrotic Aura are - while really good - are boring.
Out of shennanigans, I wanted to try to see of I could make it work with defile. In random bgs it’s okay. Myself and another dk rolled it and it was troll as hell.
It will never see play for arena.
You would t use it in a dual. I mainly run defile and rot and wither in epic battlegrounds when you clash into groups. It can be very disruptive. Every little bit helps. Just because it’s a pvp talent doesn’t mean you have to take it. Because it’s a choice. You don’t have to use it if you don’t want to use it. I don’t see the issue…
Big clash head on (epic battleground places where people stay clumped together and especially with abomination limb going every 20 second defile and wounds on target can get pretty nutty)
thats okay, not everything PVP needs to revolve around 3s.

PvP design is based around 3s
Honor talents should have use in 3s, at least to some extent
Rot and wither does not
You are defending a useless honor talent for your precious epic bg memes
I tried it in epics with defile, it does almost nothing even still
You are absolutely better off playing other talents that will net you more team damage much faster

says who? 3s is the official balancing point, but that doesn’t mean its the entire game. 2s, RBGs, randoms, epics, brawls, war mode, dueling and now solo shuffle all exist because people pvp in more than just 3s.
there is no requirement for this, we’ve been over this before, they can add as many or as little honor talents as they like. if the devs aren’t forced to fit into a limited number of slots, they are able to be more creative in individual talents. this means you personally will not find every talent useful.
perhaps you would like to explain why each any every talent is only valid if you, Chillpills, personally finds it valid for yours and only your chosen area of play specialization. if anything you jumped the gun on calling it useless and have been defending that call ever since.
if its useless to you, then don’t take the talent. nobody is putting a gun to your head making you take it, no need to attack the talent or others who do take it.
and of all the talents to call useless, you are having a conniption fit over Rot and Whither when Life and Death still exists.
Nobody likes rot and wither as a universal DK talent except you
You only like it because youre an epic BG hero
Its just a poorly designed talent as well requiring people to literally stand still to get value, and then the value you get is very marginal, I think what you dont understand about rot and wither is that they didnt add it to DK because they genuinely thought it was a good idea and would be useful, but because they were adding new honor talents to every class and they needed 1 for DK, out of sheer laziness they chose a blood dk talent to just slap on for all 3 specs and called it there.
They had to exert absolutely no effort to do this creatively speaking they just wanted to be done with it because they are lazy
Life and death is a fine talent that actually deserves to be in the unholy tree, Its just undertuned. Its function is to serve as a dispel protection which makes sense for pvp
Rot and wither does not make any sense whatsoever for the specs universally, The only spec it makes even remote sense on is unholy hence why if it should continue to exist at all it should be as an unholy specific talent, Honestly just bake it into life and death
But it absolutely should not exist for frost

that statement is objectively false and you know it. you are pretending a consensus exist where there is none.
and what is wrong with that?
no sir i don’t think you understand, PVP talents aren’t an empty void, they don’t need to add 1 talent to all specs to fill that spot. this is your point of misunderstanding.
unholy doesn’t really need dispel protection. yeah it would be nice, but its a lower cost for us to reapply our dots than it is for healers to dispel them. this is another talent that works better in epics because someone will try to mass dispell their team to avoid an epi dump only to have it kill some low ilvl freshie.
the real issue with life and death is the 5% heal return doesn’t work as worded, it gives you 5% of the first heal received and then goes on an internal cooldown. and what literally happens is the target gets a hot, and you get 5% of the first tick, so like a self heal for 20hp.
the way this talent should operate is that 5% all healing received by all targets infected by your VP is redirected to you.
also, as far as people not standing in it, defile + deaths echo + grip of the dead would allow you to cover about 50% of the area around an arena column with a 90% slow, allowing you to instantly stop a target from pillar humping. im not saying you would take rot and whither to add to that because arena damage does need to be more direct and no bull
, perhaps if they added a modifier to double or triple the damage of DnD/defile when you take rot and whither it might make it more useful in arena.
Dnd being stationary doesnt make it useless in pvp. Its the fastest way to stack festermight, who cares if its stationary when we have multiple grips n cc
it does though, if youre just mashing grip to keep someone in a rot and wither youre throwing lmao, popping wounds and using obliterates/froststrikes is such a more efficient use of your gcds than blowing all your gap closers
And ah yes because frost definitely has festermight right? Did you even read the post clearly not
ill make it real simple for you, universal honor talent
