Is that fair game or exploiting? Tons of Alliance hunters are killing Horde from it on Living Flame - US, and most can’t get to them without swiftness pots.
Edit:
Found the answer from Blizzard:
Safespotting is the act of PvPing from an advantageous position that cannot be reached through regular jumping or walking. If you got to the position using a spell, potion, wall climbing, or additional means, it is likely safespotting.
Safespotting may lead to the temporal or permanent closure of your account. Play fair.

I do believe if the guards can’t reach them it’s an exploit. I remember a Shaman on Whitemane nuking people in Redridge from the roof. Fairly certain they were suspended but I can’t say for sure.

Safespotting is an exploit. Generally you get a warning first and ordered to stop before getting banned. But if you do it for a long time (like you sit there for days doing it) before they answer the reports, they’ll just issue a temp ban.

There ya go. I knew there was a term for it but couldn’t remember what it was.
If you’re a Horde dying in Ratchet it’s your own fault, though. You’re in horde territory, the flag is not automatic.

Legitimate question. Is it safespotting if the town has no guards? You can kill a man in the middle of 5th street in Ratchet, and no guard will care.

If you’re killing them from a spot other players can get to you, it’s fine. Shooting from a roof that requires a movement speed bonus to access is safespotting.

“Bro Alliance hunters are killing us in a Horde territory!”
Sir, sir. This is legitimately a safe-territory for Horde, and you’re getting killed in Ratchet.
Tell your friends to turn off the PVP flag if you’re struggling with the hunters.

So turn off PvP?
This is actually hilarious, because Ratchet is basically free honor farm for the Horde since the guards won’t respond to Alliance deaths right in front of the bank.
Turn off PvP, and the problem goes away for Horde.
I 100% support having 10 new Ratchet guards, armed with rifles, several on the actual rooftops, all of which immediately attack anyone PvPing.
If you’re just calling for bans because your 25 rogue is getting nuked when he tries to kill level 19s flying in, I hope they ban you too.

By your definition, it would be OK for Horde to kill Alliance from the roofs of Red Ridge? Just curious. I was never killed in Ratchet. This is a discussion, not an argument.
One is an area where Alliance are forced to be flagged.
And another is an area where Horde isn’t flagged.
Please learn the zones’ contest and allegiance before posting.
So to sum up what you are saying, safespotting is OK in Horde/Alliance territory, but not OK in neutral territory? Is that in the TOS? Again, I’m just asking questions. I am looking for an answer, not an opinion.
You’re trying to fish for something you’re not gonna get, sir.
If you’re struggling with Alliance Hunters in Ratchet. You can just turn off PVP flag, and continue your usual day. They can’t do anything to Horde players in that singular safespot if they’re not flagged.
Just turn off PVP-flag, and none of this will happen. This is an attempt of derailing yet another bloody Alliance V Horde thread.
This has no bearing on whether something is deemed safespotting, and therefore against the rules.
This entire thread was made because someone had a complaint about Alliance Hunters farming Horde players in Ratchet.
It’s not whether or not something’s against the rule. It’s just silly because in that specific area, Ratchet is part of the Barren. And Barren is horde-friendly zone. So all the hordes have to do is turn off their flag.
But instead they made this thread because they’re adamant against turning off the PVP-flag.

I get what you’re saying, but that still doesn’t omit the safespotting.
In my opinion its not worth even caring about. If Horde are getting camped in a neutral city that has miraculously bad guards they can just turn off their pvp flag.
If Alliance are getting camped in that exact same city you better hope you can find enough players nearby to help you fight back (to which Horde can just unflag and easily wait for Alliance to leave again).
I spent an hour yesterday dealing with 8 Horde that would just send in a hunter pet to get the guards attention, cheetah away when the pet died, meanwhile the other 7 would nuke us with the guards chasing after the guy that cheetahed away. Gave up on turning in my Dark Iron Ordanance, so I logged off, returned 3 hours later just to see the same goon squad griefing in town still.
We dont want to hear about your issues with Alliance in Ratchet. Your issues dont compare at all to ours

Thank you for the responses. From what I gather, safespotting is against the rules. At the same time, some players are in favor of ignoring ToS for their faction biases, but that doesn’t change the fact that safespotting is against the rules. I will be reporting players that I see safespotting from now on.
