Roof of Gadgetzan Arena Exploit Should Just be Fixed

If you’re banning/suspending/not allowing it, just fix it.

Except for the changes we make!11!

When i see people doing it I love charging up a reckbomb then hopping up there like “SURPRISE MUTHAFCKA!” and killing them.

Don’t the guards shoot you off? How is it a problem?

My argument is… leave it and let the bans fly. It’s magnitudes more hilarious to have a steady stream of rage threads about suspensions being handed out for exploiting gadgetzan arena. That is a VERY classic thing, and shouldn’t be changed. I don’t want these people being protected from suspensions/bans. Let’s see the tears fly.

I wouldn’t mind a small #change of just putting guards in all the safespot areas. I remember a pserver I played on did that.

They don’t.

Just use the best spell you have at your disposal to counter them, RCR! You can crit some one out of the game for like 3 days with that bad boy.

They’re supposed to be able to but it usually just pushes you out of LOS, and breaks combat. If blizzard wants the guards to be effective in this case, they’ll need to make the guns one-shot players without fail. Instant durability loss would shut this exploit down fast.

How about the exploit of standing on a barrel next to the AH stairs? Or the exploit of standing behind the bank? Gadgetzan is absolutely full of blind spots. Should buff those guards to one shot exploiters and set all equipped items to 0 durability with one hit.

But then the guards will kill you.

you aren’t wrong, but I think those spots are less of a concern because you can’t reach nearly as many players from them.

It’s actually more of a concern because of the following reason: an entire group can set up right there, and run back behind the bank when someone comes and tries to oppose them. It creates a situation where a group is nearly unkillable and they have a place to fall back into cover at. It’s actually worse than the top of the jungle gym.

Relevant to the thread subject:

There has been some confusion in regards to whether or not the act of “rooftop camping”, or killing players while using geometry to avoid the town guards, is allowed. We will no longer condone this act in game. Players who participate in this method of PvP will be given a warning and educated on this new policy, and further action will be taken as circumstances warrant. We wish to provide a fair playing field to our customers, and this abuse of game mechanics has been hampering that effort.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

That’s pretty stupid considering the only way to fight back is to use the same exploit yourself to get up there, otherwise the guards just kill you if you try to fight back.

I would prefer it if they just didn’t punish anyone and allowed us to fight back as the solution. It’s PvP. It’s not hard to get on the gadget arena and the one in Everlook is literally standing in a corner or making two jumps to get on the rooftops.

But if you’re going to ban people, that means you’re punishing the players who were just trying to use the mailbox or a vendor and decided to fight back. If they don’t fight back, they just have to die while trying to use whatever service they were using in these towns. Not really a good solution.

The only solutions are you either let everyone do this with no punishment, resulting in PvP solutions on a PvP server. Or you just fix all these exploits so that nobody can use them. It’s not right to say “well you just have to deal with the people killing you for X hours until a GM actually does something or else you get banned too once the GM starts taking action”.

The reality of the situation is if you fight back against this and it gets witnessed by a GM (because it was reported earlier and they decided to view things in-game), you’re getting punished along with the other faction players who actually initiated the exploiting. “Sit there and take it or leave the town” is not a fair solution.

Is it? I know plenty of people who blasted people from rooftops in vanilla. I don’t know any who were suspended.

This seems like a very silly thing to suspend someone over; PvP problem with a simple PvP solution.

I say let them have their fun.

Yea, making GMs deal with it is bizarre. Either allow it because people did it frequently in vanilla, or just change it so it’s not possible. Give the guards a jet pack or teleport and move on.

Or you could just not do it?
