It needs to come back. This is getting beyond ridiculous.
People getting items they clearly don’t need (have a higher ilvl of the exact same item equipped) and just leaving and not responding to inquiries on the item.
People getting items they don’t want/ will never use cant trade them due to item level restrictions.
I don’t mind ninja looting or any reason that predates this mess. This is terrible. One of the above 2 scenarios has happened to me at least 20 times.
I minded ninja looting. I don’t want it back. The idea that someone should be able to roll on stuff they can’t equip for the gold or disenchant is ridiculous.
I don’t care. Its essentially ninja looting when an item drops from someone who cant use it and they don’t trade it. Its essentially the game ninja looting when a person in your party cant trade an item they don’t want to someone who can use it.
Loot master can be turned off, but rolling needs to be a thing.
It’s their loot not yours. They don’t owe you any explanation. Also not responding is an answer just not the one you want. If they want to trade it they will post it without you asking for it
I do care if you have your heart set on vending out my loot.
Before we had personal loot in dungeons we had need vs greed. I recall one dungeon where my rogue rolled on every piece of loot, every one which would have been an upgrade, and got none. And in the end the player who had won all the rolls used my rogue’s enchanting skill to disenchant that loot you would have ninja’d from her yourself if given the opportunity.
I don’t know the situation you experienced but I’m curious if the player was 1) able to trade it due to personal loot restrictions (based on ilevel) or 2) if they have an alt spec that prefers that item/secondary stat weight.
It’s okay for you to ask for a piece of somebody’s loot but they are by no means under any obligation to trade it to you unless you’re in a guild’s raid with specified and agreed upon loot rules that state otherwise.
You are not entitled to a random’s gear, and you never will be.
On this particular topic, I run LFR on my enchanter alts for more opportunities to get easy enchanting materials. If loot drops for me, whether I “need” it or not, it’s mine to do whatever I please with it. If I want to give something away, I will say to roll for it in raid chat. If not-- it’s mine.
I guess there is an add-on that allows players to automatically see if someone ELSE’S loot is something they need, and it automatically sends a whisper to them.
I can’t stand that. I get where people are coming from, and it doesn’t hurt to ask, but some people are so obnoxious about it. They aren’t entitled to my loot any more than I am entitled to anyone else’s. They also aren’t entitled to a response if I didn’t offer the item up for everyone to roll for.
All that being said, I don’t mind the option to roll for loot in pre-made groups or guild runs.
PUG lyfe is PUG lyfe, though. Temper your expectations and you’ll be better off.
I will say, I wish that players could trade loot they received however they want. E.g. if I get a piece of loot that exceeds my current highest ilevel for tht gear slot but I would rather someone else have it, it seems fair to allow me to trade it.
I dont remember anyone being entitled to loot being suggested in my statement… I do remember implying that if someone doesnt need the loot, they more than likely will not roll on it.
We all pay our 15 in some way. Get a bad drop its still gold. I do something for an hour I, like many, like to get paid for it.
Or its a mog. Die hard mog hunters know how rng works. You get that 1 drop…you take it. I have 4 hunters once week hit up Yogg in Ulduar for a pair of pants. 2 months, no pants. Lesson you get in SL from this even for lfr or dungeon is…you get that mog you keep it. Your never know when its coming back
