Roll the bones

5 rolls are very rare and often ruin the MDI by having one team get more 5 rolls than the other.

Instead, let’s have
1 roll, 60% chance
2 roll, 35% chance
3 roll, 5% chance

This would make fishing for decent buffs smoother and reduce the likelihood of a 5 roll making or breaking a run.

How about we not have RTB at all? It’s such a cheesy, boring, and gimmicky spell. Actual bad game design at its finest.

Just make it automatic. Every now and then just have the dumb thing change the buff and make it always be a benefit… haveing to constantly reroll to get a good buff is one of the stupidest things Ive seen in a long time.

Yea would love that to be automatic, feels like s*** to waste 5 combo points there

I disagree. I think that having an RNG element in a class that changes the way you play is actually good design. Two of the buffs being ungodly and 4 of them being ok is just bad implementation.

Dont get me wrong, the idea is not bad, i just dont feel like having to roll 7 times to have something actually exciting on my rotation. A better implementation of it could make me change my mind

Yeah that’s how I feel. It should be cool, but it’s lame to have to fish for buffs. If you couldn’t reroll it would almost be better, even though your DPS would suffer.

Which is gimmicky and boring. Then randomly you can get a 5 roll and be a god for 40 seconds. Why is that a thing? I’d rather outlaw be combat again, at least it would be a pvp spec again.

Gonna put this here as a quote from the blue post today about class changes.

" Ever resourceful and hungry for an edge, Outlaw Rogues have traded in the Combo Point requirement of Roll the Bones for a modifiable cooldown which can be manipulated to line up with their staggering finishing moves. Frantic combat will reduce the cooldown of Roll the Bones through Restless Blades by spending Combo Points. Kidney Shot returns to Outlaw’s toolkit, with Between the Eyes making their foes more susceptible to their critical strikes instead of stunning them."

Quite excited for this to be honest, they are finally fixing roll the bones.

Having gameplay that varies depending on what buffs you have is fun. It’s dynamic, which gives it very different gameplay than “plate spinning” or “whack-a-mole” specs. At least if all the buffs were good. I’m not sure how that qualifies as a gimmick. Is the warrior “smash the glowing button” a gimmick?

5 rolls are good design because they’re really really fun. 1% of the time you get to go absolutely ham. It doesn’t make the spec broken, and it adds a fun high point, so I don’t see the problem with it.

Aww hell yeah that sounds like it’s going to be way more fun to play!

It’s basically a great change–you can’t reroll, so whatever happens happens and they can probably make the buffs a 2-roll or more. And that can change your style of play. So it does what Trldncaufld (good lord your name is hard) and his type of player like–changes the active rotation periodically based on roll–but does what players like I prefer, that is, to never, ever EVER have to re-roll which is an awesomely bad mechanic.

Less excited about the loss of ranged stun for stupid kidney shot but as long as we have a ranged finishing move, I can live with it.

Genuinely disappointed at no gouge though. That’s just an iconic ability that allows a (ok small) degree of technical skill in PvE/PvP combat (since you can gouge just to shorten some cooldowns and regain energy which is excellent play).

Changing my play-style every time i roll the damn bones is exactly what i hate about the spec, and losing a ranged stun sucks. Its incredibly useful in both pve and pvp. Time will tell, but for a 1st glance, im disappointed.
I have no opinion on Assassin or sub.

I could see every rogue spec gaining more control to not go over so well. As for losing the BtE stun that sucks, but it does feel awkward to have to DR yourself to do good damage in pvp so I kinda see where that comes from.

I think if you don’t like how RtB forces you to change up gameplay, maybe outlaw is not for you. Homogenizing it to be more like other builder-spender specs would result in losing a unique gameplay flow.

Wait — did they remove it from Outlaw?

I think they just didn’t add it to Sin and Sub

Which is criminal, btw.

Whew scared me since they removed the BtE stun was worried we’d go down to having only 3! disruption abilities.

Gonna need to see how this feels. I’m a bit sad about the change to BtE, at least on paper. We’ll see.

And you ask whats wrong with RTB?
