Roll Horde or Alliance?

Do you roll the faction you were back then or do you swap and see the game through the other faction’s eyes?

I can’t decide between horde or alliance. I played wc3 and loved every second of it. Thrall was the coolest dude ever so of course I rolled an orc shaman as my first toon. I have been horde ever since and only played ally during wod for about a month with a friend and until the friend quit. I have yet to ever do a quest for the alliance.

Do I swap and play a brand new game or do I play horde for the nostalgia?

The contemplation is definitely tough!

I have mainly raided on alliance in the past due to friends being there.

But over the course of the years I have also grown an attachment of sorts to the horde, which I now think I prefer.

Seeing how I don’t know anyone who will be joining me in this classic endeavor, I think the best choice is to roll the faction I resonate the most with.

Hopefully this turns out to be an awesome next chapter for my WoW campaign!

Anyhow, hopefully my thoughts can help you form your own decision.

Best of luck.

I actually started WOW with more Horde characters, and only after a few months and a couple rerolls did I settle into Alliance on RP realms. I never got any of those original Horde characters higher than about 20ish before Cataclysm destroyed questing in Azeroth, so my biggest goal is to return to Horde and get at least one to 60 doing all the quests.

WOW: Classic won’t be going away, so you really do have time to do both. Do you have plans to raid or PvP? If so, I’d focus on the faction and classes you want to do that on first. The other faction will always be there to dabble in or switch to later.

For me, if I play it at all, it’ll come down to a couple things. First I want to see how many servers they are going to have for Classic. Then I want to see the breakdown of players making Horde and Alliance on each server. Since the servers are going to be closed communities I want to be sure I have a decent sized pool of same faction people to play with. I don’t want to constantly have issues finding enough to do dungeons and raids.

Between the lore and the presence of Paladins I usually go Alliance, at heart I’m always going to cast my lot with those glorious boys in blue. But I’ve often found myself drawn to Horde either by friends in the Horde or just how welcoming the Horde can be (without elves anyway). I’m not sure who I’ll side with this time around, likely Alliance but if the Reds are outnumbered then I’ll back the Horde, population balance has to be upheld one way or another.

I will main alliance again because paladin. But I plan on having another server to roll horde toons on. They just won’t be played as much. At least initially.

This is very much a bias/personal opinion, but I would say stick to what you know if you loved it.

I only say this because I wanted to do the same thing, so I rolled horde on a pserver. All was fine while leveling because the quests were great because I have never done them and it was honestly a lot of fun. BUT, when I hit 60 and spent most of my time in cities, queing bgs from the other side, and generally just feeling stuck in areas that didn’t feel like ‘home’ for me, I felt like I made a mistake. I wanted to go to IF so bad to duel instead of org and honestly it sort of ruined my experience.

Just my 2 cents

This is actually a great perspective the see it from.

Well I plan on initially getting up my pally like I had back in vanilla to a certain point…

But I really want to roll horde as I was just a kid during vanilla and wanted to be a “crusader for good” back then haha definitely want to see the “bad guys” point of view this time

IMO play as whatever the shoe fits the best and I mean try everything and see which one you prefer the most. Personally I’m going as human warlock for nolstagia. SURE humans don’t have the best racial abilities for PvP but that’s what I’m going with anyway because its what I adore most.

I have been predominantly Alliance since launch, with a spattering of Horde toons (none max level, aside from this one) – I am not COMPLETELY certain because I have leveled so many Alliance toons on Vanilla PServers that the grind thru Westfall>Redridge>Duskwood is committed to memory, but I am leaning somewhat heavily towards rolling Horde.

And there within, probably Shaman or Warrior.

I started Alliance on a human paladin but abandoned it and eventually deleted it for a Tauren Hunter.
So I’m going to recreate that paladin again when Classic comes out. (And I’m prepared for the shake up in gameplay because after Tauren could become paladins I started playing the class again.)

I will be maining horde, you know, the good guys!

We need more alliance advocates.

I might have to roll alliance if everyone and their dog goes horde lol.

Alliance will likley be 52-54% of population on the servers when it goes live.

Horde is always over represented on the forums for whatever reason.

Part of it is that a lot of people drool over horde PVP racials, then see how ugly some of the horde races really are and then decide that Shadowmeld is good enough as a racial.

If it’s that evenly split I’ll be happy as a pig in mud.

Hopefully there will be a way like retail to kind of gauge faction populations as we go.

after i make my alliance mage, hunter and priest, i might roll a troll druid.

Thats my gut on overall server pops, however I would expect PVP servers to have a bias to horde by 4 or 5%, maybe more, but with more people playing PVE It will balance out to be more people playing alliance than horde.

I’m currently playing Alliance, but that’s because my server died. I will roll Horde on the classic server.
