Roll hacks? Is there such a thing?

I’ve did a ton of raids since Tuesday and I’ve been noticing a trend.
Out of 3 bosses, one player rolled and won 5 items and none of his rolls were below 98.
So, I was wondering if hacking is a thing in WoW?

RNG is RNG. The dice gods were kind to him. Tomorrow, they may hate him.

No one is hacking the rolls.

Yeah hacking is a thing in the game and the game has so many bots yeah those rolls seem a bit to good so who knows.

would not be surprised - that sounds a little too good

I guess anything is possible but I really doubt it. Sometimes people get lucky, I mean Iv rolled 2 100’s and multiple 90+s in the same raid, and had people tell me they were gonna report me for hacking

I’m not exaggerating in my claims. Rolling 98, 99, 100 for loot from the same boss is not really RNG. There are 2-3 bosses per raid wing. How is it RNG when 1 player gets 5 pieces of loot from three bosses? And sometimes 2-3 items from one boss.
Not RNG. No way! I definitely think foul play is at hand.

On more than one occasion I am seeing this from different players in the past week.
I’m not even mad really, but it does make me not want to go heal or tank in raids.

That’s exactly how RNG can work.

That’s literally how RNG works.

And you are allowed to think that.

Then perhaps WoW isn’t for you.

RNG does seem worse. Getting the same item multiple times in one play session to either all low roles one day to nothing but good roles the next. Def does not seem as random as it use to be.

What is worse is when you inspect them and what they already have is way better than what they won, hah.

I stepped away from raiding for awhile cause I got sick of investing time and getting no reward.

He could have been hacking. He could have been lucky. He could have been a Blizzard employee. :joy: :dracthyr_tea:

I mean eventually that is bound to happen. I dont see how someone could manipulate rolls

RNGesus is a spiteful God, tread lightly OP. Do what I do, bite your tongue and keep it pushing.

Running the BfA raid on my warrior every piece of mythic plate set dropped for me in that one run except the belt. And then the BoE lookalike belt dropped too. I’ve never in all my years had that kind of luck in this game. Sometimes the stars just align.

You should look up the lottery.

How can anyone win? Sometimes they do. Math is math.

I often wonder what this is like.

I would say it is possible though highly improbable. It’s also possible it was intentional by design or unintentional (a bug). Unfortunately, players have no way of collecting data on rolls to see what sort of distribution of gear is really happening.

RNG is RNG. Talk to anyone who works a table in a casino, and they’ll tell you stories of incredible runs of luck, because sooner or later, there will be long runs of seemingly improbable luck.

I judged a science fair once, and one student did a “randomness perception” type of experiment to see if people could identify, correctly, truly random results vs. fake ones he made up.

So for example, he presented people with 10 sets of coin flip results, 100 flips in each set, and some were real and others fake. One trend he saw was for the real ones, sometimes they had really fake looking runs of all heads or all tails, like over a dozen or more, and people identified those as fake when in fact they were real. And in some of the fake ones he made, there were no runs of heads or tails over 4 out of 100, and those mostly were identified as real when in fact they were fake.

Personal example: I one time flew on an Alliance alt over Org back in the day, way back before account wide stuff. So I though I’d drop down and catch a fish to get the Fishing Diplomat achieve. And immediately after clicking the bobber, I died to the flying guards, but I saw not one but two achievement toasts flash on the screen.

One achievements was for Fishing Diplomat, as expected. But the other one was for Old Crafty, which is a very rare catch (Wowhead has it as a 0.09% drop). I had spent hours and hours on my Alliance main up to that point fishing for that guy in Org, without success. Yet it was my one and only cast on that alt. Extremely rare occurrence. But that is RNG being RNG.

/moo :cow:

Sorry I do not believe you on this. There is no way. This is a made up story!

That’s outlying data. It does happen every once in a while.

It literally is.
