Roll Call: Which Characters Are Showing Up?

I’m having a hard time keeping track of who is actually confirmed to appear in Midnight with all the news flying around, so I’m making a list here for the sake of helping with speculation. Comment if you know of a character who hasn’t been mentioned yet!

Returning characters:
Lor’themar
Liadrin
Xal’atath
Rommath
Alleria
Turalyon
Arator
Thrall
Sylvanas
Umbric
Orweyna
Astalor Bloodsworn
Valeera Sanguinar
Nalorakk
Akil’zon
Jan’alai
Halazzi
Vereesa*

New characters:
Zul’jarra
Zul’jan
Lirath*

*Only confirmed for Windrunner Spire content as part of Windrunner family history so far

I’ll update as we learn more.

I am pretty sure the Nightborne will also show up at some point. They have to since their leader is married to Lor’themar.

Probably primary in Eversong, forgotten for the rest of the expansion.

Key character.

Will be killed to justify the Alliance always being 1000000% correct and the Horde always being evilwrong. Void Elves, Umbric, etc.

Key character. Killed to enrage Alleria into becoming more voidy.

Key character. Calia. Attempting to get Horde to like a purely Alliance character.

Tertiary character. I like him conceptually, but he won’t matter in the slightest.

Alliance must always lead delves.

I’m pretty sure Thalyssra and Valtrois are in the Nightborne group shot right at the very start of the gameplay trailer, though they’re see from behind so might just be generic NPCs. They don’t have very distinctive models.

The zone and characters panel starts in just a couple minutes so stay tuned I guess.

What blood pressure medication are you on?

Honestly, if Astalor is there I expect them to go on the deep end with the blood elf and possibly void elf and nighborne character bench.

You know the fun side effect of having half an expansion’s content each and big well populated zones? That’s a lot of blorbos.

Like Larianna Riverwind and Lyria Skystrider levels of using the whole character bench.

Here’s Arator’s new model btw, it’s the same design from the cover of the upcoming book of course https://old.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/1mw8way/a_look_at_arators_new_model_coming_in_midnight/

(He’s so ugly)

Edit: Umbric new outfit too https://i.imgur.com/WELWy6i.jpeg

Woof, that is hideous. I honestly hope that’s a placeholder model…

On second thought, maybe Thalyssra can sit this expansion out if these are the custom NPC models they’re churning out.

I think Arator looks kinda cool, but the look makes him seem older than I figured him. Though on the math he should be late 30s - 40s right?

I’m more concerned about him getting story presence. Like it makes sense at a level: elf, light, his mother and father are both deeply tied to the plot directly in various ways, but also he’s functionally Alliance and we have too many fundamentally Alliance characters in the spotlight as it is.

Do want his mog, though.

He looks older because his hair is naturally silvery blonde - any facial hair will give him a couple decades

while true, I was more thinking that white dude goatee with a mohawk is a look I mostly see from chill dudes bordering on middle age at a local comic book store.

Arator might as well have shown up with a waxed handlebar mustache for how strong a signal it sends me.

He’s like mid 30s I think. He was born between the Second War and Beyond the Dark Portal and we’re around year 43 or so now.

Actually chopped as hell, glad that they’re giving Alliance characters an ugly tax if they’re going to show up in Midnight at least.

Now I can only see Arator arguing with some generic Kul Tiran man about whether Watchmen is the best comic book ever made or Dark Knight Returns.

But am I wrong?

He’d be late 30s early 40s at this point which he looks on point. I wonder if he will have any love interests like those twins who were eyeing him. He’s gotta keep the Windrunner name going for another generation.

I like Alleria more than any other Windrunners, but that’s a low bar. I’m OK if he just takes a vow of chastity and the name dies out.

I can’t remember if the Knaak sister’s kids are still alive or not, don’t kill them if they’re not already dead but I’m good if they never exist again.

You very much are not.

Not even a teeny bit.

If this is what Windrunner genes look like when combined with human ones, then I’m kinda glad that Nathanos and Sylvanas spared us.
