Roleplayer stereotypes

Now this thread ISNT meant to attack players directly for what race they choose to RP or how they RP. Its more meant to understand why these stereotypes exist. Not every character will fit into a stereotype.

What kind of stereotypes have you seen/experieneced while roleplaying on Moon Guard? The two I’ve mostly heard are that gnomes are all joke characters and male worgen are all sex crazed maniacs that wanna bang your character.

Been on the receiving end of the last one. Stereotypes been making it harder to RP with walk ups but not always.

if you wanted to make a callout thread against me all you had to do was ask nicely

nah i kid, but roleplay stereotypes are generally just “rip offs” of popular concepts in media - though of course primarily in fantasy-based like video games and movies. like how game of thrones inspired droves upon droves of human noble rpers, or warhammer inspires all those male orc warriors with metal names like Gortug Spinecracka who speak in funny straya accents. the more media you consume in this genre, the more you understand where all the stereotypes and character ideas come from. hence why you see a million of a certain character, because everyone behind that character looked at a certain show or whatever and thought ‘wow thats cool i wanna rp that’. case in point there were like a million legolas and aragorn characters running around in BC and Wrath cause LOTR was still the dominant media inspiration for all the geeks

The Mary-Sue priestess role player that has no personality at all who generally tries to get their character to be with a paladin GM to try and make themselves relevant is one that sticks out like a sore thumb to me.

Male human paladins being one of the most judgemental player selection combos.

Hey! I was going to post that first ):
Nah but for real the HMP meme is so real, when i got back into wow roughly around MoP and fleshing out this guy I saw it litterly EVERYWHERE. Pretty soon I just went ‘youknow what? meh’ and just did my own thing.

Lord I saw these everywhere too, Made my own rouge to mostly subvert that idea. Sure hes edgy and nasty but you can basicaly swing a newspaper at his head and he’ll go down easy no problem. Had the most fun having him get twaped by being a twit.

Also between you and me the ‘horny worgen rper’ is… pretty prevalent, maybe it was my eons of rping but I did see it everywhere. I was amazed when I didn’t see it and actually met afew chill worgen players

My favorite stereotype of Moon Guard is the person who spends more time being bitter and complaining about other peoples’ characters than they do actually roleplaying.

From the Hordeside:

Big bull with a growth pot addiction who doesn’t show much emotion. No one has ever bested him in combat.

Big bull with a growth pot addiction who is actually the worlds cutest teddybear and wouldn’t hurt a fly. Always a druid.

People only roll warlocks so that they can get the succubus. All pandas are joke characters. And female dwarves just don’t exist. XD

Actually I’ve seen a fair few female Dark Irons around - and I’ve got one…who is also a rip off of something in Geek media but she exists :stuck_out_tongue:

DH male: Pit-lord bound demon edge-lord who RPs by standing around being edgy enough to slice a baker’s bread as he passes. Did I mention edge?

DH female: Succubus or Shivarra bound demon for the seductive sex magic. Always, ALWAYS a lesbian, or ‘polyamoris’. Also bleeds razor-blades from pure edginess.

I am honestly shocked no one has mentioned these two so far.

Honetly I think that can extend to Death Knights too. Just swap out the demons for undead.

Tough female characters who talk like a sailor, has no known weaknesses, omega attractive, and is too badass they’re obviously the main character.

Excuse me, my big bull with a growth pot addiction is actually a paladin and he’s lovely.

Human Paladins who are blatantly doing things that would severe there connection to the light but continue to have no such troubles! (Emotional and Physical, also can apply to Shamans)

Honestly with DK’s, it’s more “Not REALLY a DK, but instead is (insert some non-DK thing here)!”

Nothing wrong with it per se, but I see it more than sexxxed-up DK’s.
