Roleplay Activity?

I used to visit these servers over a decade ago and there was a thriving RP community that posted frequent story threads, either recruiting for structured narratives or keeping things open for a bit of chaos. I fell out of fan-fiction writing for awhile, and focused my endeavors on other matters IRL, then the off-and-on controversies Blizzard embroiled themselves in made it hard, for me, to be passionate in the franchise. Lately, however, with Dragonflight’s success and my genuine excitement for War Within I’m feeling a bit of the old creative bug.

Alas, the RP forums seem quite a bit…spread out in user interaction. Just reviewing current topics the two most recently commented posts were a day ago, before that there’s a post that had interaction 3 days ago, then 6, 9, 11, etc.

I get it. Most of us old time players who visited these forums to banter and flex our creative juices fell off as life caught up with us, but it’s a tad disappointing to see the RP forums so infrequently interacted with from a creative writing perspective.

I’m glad, at least, to see lore questions being posted and answers provided to the fantastically curious.

Stay engaged folks

I’m also a RPer since vanilla and much of the shift from official forums is due to other avenues that players and guilds can have more control over. Every RP guild I know of has a very active Discord, some are even set up for various RP servers. That’s where you’re going to find most activity and the stories/fanart/etc that you used to be able to find on the official forums.

Basically people stopped wanting to RP in a venue controlled by Blizzard.

Discord has taken over much of the space for forums. Discord allowed for greater post customization, graphics, links, and more. While the forums are plain text.

The forums sadly are so restricted that they pale compared to the likes of discord. Discord RP communities for WoW are booming.
