Role player incoming! (Need input!)

Double post brought from Wyrmrest forums.

Hey folks! Title says it all. Moving onto an RP server. Moon Guard or Wyrmrest Accord. I’m familiar with the past descriptions of each
ERP goldhsire, precise lore roleplay on wyrmrest and that moonguard was more alliance as wyrmrest was more horde.

Me? Human Mage
Faction? Alliance

I very much enjoy an enriched backstory for a character. I always had one going for my toon. Even without the use of addons. I always played in character as much as possible. I stopped playing right around when Burning Throne released.

Many changes have hit WoW since I left
One being the lack of PvP (all around) servers.

LF Guild, one that isnt a bunch of Randall’s eating cheetos in the basement.
Guild that has some RP events. (100% noob to this concept however.) One that likes to play with different members story. Ex. My alt has to embark on a self quest to restore my mage to being himself. (As he disappeared around the introduction of Burning Throne. MIA)

Without trying to publish my very own novel here. I’ll end on this,

I need advice/suggestions and input on which realm to head over to!

My name isn’t Randall but I’ll definitely sit in a basement if it means someone’s gonna give me free Cheetos.

I have no comment on Wyrmrest Accord, as it’s been six years since I quit and when I had WRA as my main server for roleplay I was entirely Horde. Not sure if that’s the same now, most of my Horde buddies have since moved off server due to needing to move elsewhere to meet their raiding goals.

Moon Guard on the other hand, very popping population, though you’re bound to see much more activity in game than on the boards. Lots of different options of guilds and the like that I’ve seen, and there’s a handful of posts already on the board highlighting upcoming events, guild faires and whatnot.

D-nest first popped up in all of it’s glory on Sisters of Elune an eternity ago, yet it’s Moon Guard that got swamped as the ERP-Crapshoot Haven of MMO’s, something that I noticed deepened as the years went on and it became increasingly easier to server hop without repercussions.

My experience in the past was always hearing that Wyrmest Accord was full of snotty, elitist roleplayers who were Purists that would nuke you if you so much as hinted you were into anything concerning ERP, and Moon Guard was sort of some sort of haven for depravity (particularly, Goldshire.) I find that you can find equal amounts of depravity and people walking around with RP-sticks up their butts on both servers, so I don’t really see the stereotypes as anything you should be hauling weight under.

Don’t know the status of Goldshire on Wyrmrest, as I long wrote it out as a place to Definitely Not Try To Write At, but on Moon Guard it’s definitely packed. I think there was at least a hundred players stacked up together like some sort of sweaty pit. But, I consider that the result of many many years of “LOL MOONGUARD ERP GOLDSHIRE HEHEHEHEE”.

I chose to come to Moon Guard because it had more “Yeah we’re pretty huge over here where the Alliance are concerned” comments, and that was about it.

If Alliance RP is what you’re looking for than Moonguard is where to be. Plenty of RP going around and guild recruitment seems to be up as well!

A wise person once said of Moon Guard and Wyrmrest Accord: “They’s the same.”

Now, that said, there are some minor differences. Yes, MG has the larger Alliance population. Yes, WrA has the larger Horde one. MG has more “server canon” in the form of various server projects that are not at all mandatory and are instead totally opt-in. WrA isn’t really a Lore elitist haven any more than MG is.

Many of the people who play on MG also play on WrA. Many others have hopped between the servers numerous times for good or bad reasons. The takeaway from that fact is that you’re likely to run into a lot of the same actual players no matter which server you choose. You’ll see a lot of the same RP concepts on both servers. Hell, you’ll even see entire guilds hopping from one server to the other occasionally.

The other big difference I find between the two servers is the one that exists between their forum communities. WrA seems to have a more active forum. WrA also has a lot more people who enjoy criticizing WoW and speaking their opinions regarding everything about what surrounds it. MG seems to be more focused on lighter conversation along with guild/event advertisements. This all only really matters if you’re planning to spend a significant amount of time on either medium.

So which server should you choose? Well that depends on your goals, I guess. If you want the largest Alliance community possible, MG is your answer. If you want the largest Horde one, WrA it is. If you want to contribute to the reignition of what was once a larger Horde community and a noble effort to do so being led by some tenacious and motivated people, MG Horde might be for you. If you want to join a big server project, MG Alliance it is again. You see where I’m going with this…

I should end this by qualifying that I am speaking from my personal observations as someone who has spent extensive time on both servers. I hope this perspective helps you in your process of deciding which server to invest in.

What’s up mah dude? You like events well what about a guild entirely Focused AROUND them? :open_mouth:

THAT’S RIGHT The Eventors is here to help you with any and all public events you wanna be apart of ,all the Cheeto dusting, finger licking good RP you can get! Infact it’s so good you won’t even care about current content. YA THAT GOOD. RP I gotta tell you is really addicting once you get into it. lol Infact RP is so good if it’s your thing and becomes a hobbie it can keep you coming back to the game over and over again.

I personally have been playing since phase 3 vanilla (on my old account) but started this one in Wrath and I met some rpers on my old realm and it changed my world. lol And from what I have learn is just like PVE and PVP there is such a thing as “MYTHIC LEVEL RP” and bro I have turned some noobs into pros so if there is anybody that can teach ya, I can.

SO do we help folks learn to RP? Hella’ Yee
Do we do tmog runs? Hella’ Ya
Do we attend as many public RP events as we can? FEL to the YUS

Now as to what are guild is fully about let me break it down for you.

The Eventors stands for Inventors of Events, our goals are to host amazing public server combat and social events, Help spread word of any and all other Public Server Events hosted by other guilds or individuals on the server, Attend as many public server events as we can, help other guilds with their events planning and co-hosting upon request (a lot of good GM are doing everything they can for their guilds and have rl work so it can be hard for them to host the events they REALLY want to plan and host), and bring together server community as a whole through RP and friendship.

SO Let me break it down how out ranks work:

-Socialite - (ME) Lady Alice, the networking Boss of the company, she helps anyone and everyone she can when it comes to events(planning, spreading word, co-hosting, whatever ya need) across the public realm.

Lanista- The Combat Focused Public Event Planners/Officers

Host: The Social Focused Public Event Planners/Officers

Caterer: The Social event Focused characters of the guild, these folks help or enjoy attending mainly social focused events. They are the non-combat rank for characters that wish to focus on catering during events, like cooks, waitresses, pages, merchants, dancers, etc. .

Secutor: The Combat focused Characters and Guards of the Company , these folks enjoy either partaking in combat focused events with fighting or are helping guard during events if ordered.

Interns: New members that haven’t had their IC interview

Basically, a guild that focuses on planning and hosting Public (Server Wide) Combat and Social Events on a large scale, and offering our services to other guilds to help them plan any Combat or Social events they have in mind.

Event Planners as officers, half focused on Planning Social Events and the other half focused on planning Combat events. And then non-combat rank for characters that wish to focus catering during events, like cooks, waitresses, pages, merchants, dancers, etc. . Another rank for Combat focused characters , like guards and folks that like to partake and fighting events. Then finally a newmember/alt rank

And yes we are also working on making a mythic plus five man team!

Lemme pull up a rocking chair next to you, granny.
Sisters of Elune opened a week before Moon Guard so we are in about the same place on the ERP development timeline but MG seemed to have a certain je ne sais quoi. Before those two lovelies there was the Scarlet Crusade server which had something of a rep. ERP has always been around on many servers (including Wyrmrest Accord) at times more visible than others.

Feyahni provided a fair assessment of both servers. OP would be wise to read and consider that carefully as well as make a couple of alts to observe then make a final decision.

Back in my day, we blamed erp on the Argent Dawn realm and we liked it that way.

I would say Moon Guard is the best choice for Alliance.

Wyrmrest has a larger Horde population, but many play both servers, for either faction.
