Why put some nice one handed swords including a possible OH sword in that only rogues can use yet leave Mutilate in the overpowered state it is? Why buff Main Gauche to 3 combo points yet not increase the damage so rogue tanks can actually keep up? The only way we can keep threat successively is we run mutilate. It’s just far greater then Sinister/Main Gauche or Saber Slash. Someone mentioned something like 15% better than Saber slash in fact? Why force daggers yet talk about other spec options or even include non dagger items that no other class can even get? I just don’t understand the logic? And the thing is if you nerf mutilate it’ll make rogue tanks complete garbage in threat department.
Mutilate isn’t even strong this phase in pvp, Hunter pets and Shaman lightning shield is doing so much more damage.
I’ll keep making suggestions whenever a rogue thread appears.
Shuriken toss:
- rework shuriken toss to a crimson tempest / fan of knives finisher.
Main Gauche:
- make it also do damage on parries when active similar to unfair advantage (lower to 1 CP, give it more uptime)
- maybe have it be a combo builder with no cooldown but give stacking parries % like old blade dance.
Then if saber slash is better you’re going to have people in here crying about how they want Mut or backstab viable.

Not true at all lol, Saber slash is in an unusable state, even for tanks. It’s a little pathetic, ngl, for it to have lasted multiple phases like this. For martial classes, the weapons they use are pretty important. They affects talents, abilities, and playstyle. They also affect your aethetic and class fantasy, all important factors in RPGs.
I mean in full best in slot saber is around 7 to 8% behind mutilate with the fist weapons.

Spamming saber slash isn’t any better.
Spamming some combo generator doesn’t make the rotation any better.
Because I WANT to run Main Gauche. But honestly, that rune just sucks. Plus I wanna run swords. I don’t necessarily have anything against daggers. I just prefer using sword spec.

Bis saber slash is fists and it’s 7-9% behind bis Mut.

I think Saber Slash needs a rework where it just adds the bleed effect to Sinister Strike and reduces the energy cost of Sinister Strike by 5. This would give sword spec a passive 20% increased damage through Carnage without using Rupture.
Mutilate never should have had it’s energy reduced to 40 when it gains so much from Backstab talents. It invalidated anything that used Sinister Strike.
Sinister Strike and Hemorhage needed runes that boosted its effectiveness. Rogue didn’t need extra combo builders that are linked to Sinister Strike like Main Gauche, Sabre Slash, Shuriken or Poisoned Knife, they needed runes that boosted the effectiveness of Sinister Strike first and foremost (in the same way that Hunter got runes to boost Raptor Strike).
But this isn’t a good argument because all it is is you prefer saber or sinister strike instead of spamming mutilate.

How is it irrelevant? it is opening up swords, maces and fists for use instead of being locked to daggers with mutilate. Is that not what the OP was talking about?
Mutilate being 40 energy is a bandaid fix because without Mutilate and Vile Poisons/Improved Poisons, the Rogue class would be F Tier.
If people insist on this charade of mutilate being 40 energy while Sinister Strike is 45 and does half the damage, then open up Mutilate to other weapons.

So prior to BiS raid drops, what weapons are going to be 8% behind mutilate?
I think they understand that, you are just not understanding they want fixes to make other stuff more relevant and not just nerf mutilate.
Nerfing mutilate is fine but other stuff will need buffed, Personally I prefer Backstab build for pvp as there is a skill cap with it. IN PVE I dont care what generator we are spamming as they all are close to the same boring rotation.
The problem with mutilate in pvp is it makes all rogues super powerful in pvp no matter how skilled, Backstab/Hemo take more skill to play.
That we would be F tier, 8% is not a big enough difference to knock us from top tier to bottom tier.
You would need to sim yourself, thrash blade Vs non bis daggers would be pretty close for example.
Once again you spamming any other generator makes 0 difference overall, even if saber was our top DPS people would be making threads cuz they wanna spam Mut or backstab or sinister or hemo because it’s a preference, this isn’t a good argument.
Also swords/maces being better is overall bad, we would them compete with warriors,enhance and melee hunters for our weapons.
