Just noticed this, anybody else? You can equip bows but they dont auto attack
Rogues use to have thrown weapons/bows/crossbows

Every class that could originally use other weapon types before Blizzard redesigned and restricted weapon usage can still collect appearances and equip them. The reason Rogues can’t attack with ranged weapons is because they don’t have Auto Shot anymore.
Warriors for example are able to equip everything but Wands iirc.

Slight correction here becuase i’m really annoying. We never had auto shot. Just shoot. Auto shot is a hunter thing. 
Really annoying too. Becuase if you go back to classic the sound effects for firing ranged weapons are better than live??? wtf blizzard. I completely forgot how good it sounded to draw back the string on your bow / fire your gun.

I don’t miss the gunfire sound tbh and use addons to mute it.
In vanilla / Classic we use guns, bows, thrown, and cross bow.
In TBC we moved toward thrown almost exclusively, but other range weapons were useful in terms of stats.
I think it was cataclysm when they eliminated range slots from character sheets. Then bows and the like we’re made main hand.
