Thank you Blizz for the recent delve changes for next patch. I’d bet good money that their analytics show that most delve players have zero interest in ever doing M+ or raiding. There will always be outliers ofc. But it makes sense why they’d make a change like this. Exclusive delve players wont hit a ceiling and grow bored of the game this way. Very smart.
So there are 2 ideas to grow Delves as a concept even further for future expacs and such:
-
“Delvifying” future dungeons and raids so that when Blizzard makes new Raid and Dungeon content, they’re also able to make delves out of the same set pieces and storylines (for development pipelines, this also would allow them to create a lot of new delve content out of already existing resources).
It also means that Delve players aren’t isolated doing random stories over and over and actually can do ones that involve the primary narrative of the game. Because as a Delver exclusively, you honestly have zero clue what the expansion story is. So little is conveyed. -
Taking what could’ve been from Awakening the Machine & Torghast, and adding a new Delve mode that involves doing 3-5 consecutive Delves that are completely random. After each delve, grant the player 1 major class bonus (like Torghast anima perks) & 1 major generic bonus (like a stat steroid). Like Torghast, each delve is progressively harder, and a nice reward awaits at the end. Just spitballing but it would effectively turn the delves into a roguelike endgame experience for high-prestige cosmetics.
