Rogue vs T8 Tomb-Raider Drywhisker / Kreigval's Rest

I’ve just made two attempts at this Bountiful Delve with my rogue, currently ilvl 594.

I have some feedback regarding some specific issues I encountered. I know they there have been some passes at tuning, and I wanted to lend my voice to the effort.

First off, everything still generally hits too hard, but I’ll start with the end boss, Tomb-Raider Drywhisker.

He’s not stunnable or slowable.
His melee hits for 5-10% of my health. Just the non-crit melee. 700k damage.
Flamestorm hits me for 1.4m damage. Uninterruptible. Unavoidable. No, I wasn’t in a swirly, the swirlies hadn’t dropped yet. That’s just the initial damage.
Ground Slam is nearly unavoidable. I can use a sprint to get away for the first one, but subsequent casts are unavoidable due to run speed. Uninterruptible. Seems to have a 20 yard range or more. Close to the size of the candle area.

Random mob also hit like trucks. Melee Kobolds will cast Thwack and Scratch for 10% of your total hits points. Uninterruptible. Not that you’d have enough interrupts anyway. And since I’m melee, this make it so that you constantly need to run away and back, assuming you can even see the multiple cast bars in a pack.

And you ARE doing whole packs, because Bran breaks nearly every attempt at cc. And the Ambush at the end completely removes the possibility to CC with Sap. I can get to the Ambush with zero deaths and end up dying multiple times going through every CD included cloak, vanish. evasion and Crimson Vial. My build includes many of the strongest survivability talents.

I’ve mained rogue since classic. I’m usually one of the top dps in my guild. And FWIW, I used to help maintain the shadowcraft / simc tooling for many years. I KNOW how to play a rogue at a fairly high level of skill, and I like a challenge, but this is not it.

And just FYI, yes, I do use Tricks on Bran, and it helps (when he’s not dying flat out), but it’s not enough and often the mobs ignore it anyway.

For anyone else reading, my feedback here is meant in the best of intentions, please try to be constructive with replies. I’m not trying to dogpile with the complaints. I think delves can be great, but the tuning is not there and this is about as specific as I can be without posting logs and doing a play by play.

I just did this one on my Ret alt (around 589 ilvl). Agree the boss has a lot of unavoidable stuff going on, but thankfully I was able to do it on my last life. Brann was set to heals and I had to do a lot of self healing. Can see how that could be harder on a Rogue.

What was frustrating for me was the Kobold packs, as you said. The melee ones hit like trucks and the casters are no pushovers either. I had to wait for CDs for almost all packs or I had to wait and hope one pathed away far enough so I could single pull when able and thin out the pack.

Tuning is still a work-in-progress.

As a Outlaw/Assassin rogue, Trickster is a sleeper god-send. Why? because So Tricky means ALL your threat goes to Brann, which means no melees to the face. You still have to deal with random casts targeting you, but it’s a lot easier to handle those when you’re not getting chunked constantly.

Also, switch Brann to healer if you haven’t on the last boss, he’s VERY tanky and will heal through unavoidable mechanics.

I agree tuning isn’t there yet, but at least for us trickster rogues it’s soloable.
