For months I have been going back and forth about this.
A group of myself and 3 others are leveling together. 1 is a healer, and the rest of us are DPS. I thought about tanking but I would like to play a DPS this time around.
Rogue class fantasy is so fun to me, or at least what I remember from back in the day. Mage is just QOL for all of us while leveling for free food and water.
Think its worth not having a solid tank for groups, or will we be okay leveling without one?
You can go Warrior and still DPS, and level in a DPS spec. Just put a sword and board on. If that’s not interesting to you go Rogue - there’s no real issue with that and you will enjoy yourself playing what you want.
With a healer it’s not the worst thing to find a tank for dungeon running. If you have a Hunter or Warlock pet, it’s feasible to have it tank many of the early dungeons as well. And if one of the DPS is a Paladin or Shaman they can tank just fine - Shaman can’t tank past the 30s I’d say and Paladin is a great dungeon tank.
A tank, pre 60, uses the same gear and talents as anyone else… you just equip a sword and board when you’re in the dungeon. But that said, if you really don’t want to run one, then just find one when it’s time for dungeon groups. You already have the rest filled up, so all your posts are going to be “LF TANK”.
I’ve actually been in the same boat as you for a while, but I think I’m settling on mage. They just have so many more options as a main! Like you said QoL is amazing and they’re so solid in every area of the game. Leveling speed, PvP, PvE, farming gold, travel, etc. Like previously said they’re great for groups and friends.
BUT I too love the rogue fantasy so much. And because of that I kind of want that to be on my own. I dont wanna level with others on my rogue. In my spare time I wanna really get into the character and level him on my own. It just fits the fantasy even more haha This also depends on how much time you have on your hands too tho, but thats where I;m at with it.
