I never considered rogues to be a tank before, but now that it’s possible I really want it to be viable. Attempting to tank with rogue there’s a few sore points that make them weaker than the other tank options, they get hit really hard when they do get hit, trying to tank multiple mobs feels bad when your combo points fall off and you don’t have a strong AOE option, sure bladefurry will help in phase 2, but that’s only 1 additional target getting hit.
This could definitely be fixed, having combo points mimic retail and be on the rogue would definitely help the combo point issue, and a few more runes for tanking and AOE will help rocket them to top tier tanks, if we can get a Fan of Knives rune, then the rogue will be able to do consistent AOE damage which will be AOE threat as tank spec. In original World of Warcraft Beta, rogues were able to use bucklers, having a rune that allows rogues to use shields would help them not get hit as hard as they currently do. You could also have Main Gauche changed to hit with the offhand weapon or shield.
I’ve been loving Season of Discovery and am excited for phase 2, I just hope you give rogue tanks some love since they’re relegated as “worst tank” right now.

I ran a dungeon healing a rogue tank and it was super easy. He took like no damage.
Sounds like a skill issue.

Rogue tank vs Shaman tank is very different in terms of aoe threat generation and damage taken. Shaman tank is superior in every way. Rogue tank has a lot of potential to be super fun though.
Weird way to live your life to act like changes aren’t needed when you look at the numbers, there are way less rogue tanks than any other tank.

It’s level 25, shaman is literally the only tank with any AOE threat.
The other classes get AOE threat talents later.

It’s impossible to take anything seriously from someone named Sodsuckx, troll name and troll responses
I’m beginning to think that the answer to “I’d like a tank rogue” is just to roll a druid and use bear form. You’ll also get to heal, nuke from a distance, etc. And with the new druid ruins, you’ll still pump dps when you want to.
Someone at Blizzard (Holly?) really likes druids…
tbh i think thats all rogs would need, including an armor buff for the tanking rune, with a damage reduction so you dont have rog tanks doing the lords work in BG’s.
Bear Druids are awful. The only benefit of bear Druids is that they’re also cat Druids and there are very few 2-tank fights so bear tanks can just be cats most of the time instead.
I tried to main tank BFD on my bear and to be fair I was/am sick irl but that run sucked so much. It just does not generate threat and has no active mitigation.
If we could keep combo points while switching targets I would consider tanking.
Till then its way to cancerous to even care. Def with AOE.
The problem with bear tanks in classic is it is a very gear specific focus… you have to get the right item combo and load up the armor…
You just can’t rely on one rune to change one class completely and most of classes are very well designed in vanilla. Not even devs can fully understand the classes. Especially they did confirm rogue should not be the mt as warriors etc. I would rather they make rogues even more dps
I have a rogue tank who clears BFD on lockout. You have to keep blade dance up always as top prio. Use heavy dynamite and target dummies on big pulls. Spec 14/2/0. Use sabre slash rune(guchi maine rune is better for pvp imo, not worth in pve). Also create a mouseover tease macro to not drop combo points when needed. Single target the threat and mitigation is insane Im having a blast on him. Good luck.
Shamans do have molten blast… Not what i use on my shaman or a shield though at level 25. Tab target and melee fs on target Es another. Most classes dont really pull threat unless u runing with a Enc shaman threat really shouldnt be a issue. Shamans have do have crazy level threat, but when dual wielding it like many upper geared shamans are doing we take more dmg then rogues locks and even wars.
