Rogue Set: Shadowcraft V. Cadaverous

Hey all! The WoWHead guide for Classic sets indicated that Shadowcraft Armor is fairly unimpressive outside of its wonderful 6-piece set bonus, stating that “Unfortunately, it is generally not a good Set, overall.”

So I was curious if the other leather dungeon set, Cadaverous Garb, would be better to aim for? Notably, Cadaverous Garb is a 5-piece set as opposed to Shadowcraft’s 6/8.

Or maybe it’s better to just ignore the dungeon sets and go for standalone gear, only collecting Shadowcraft for its eventual upgrade into Darkmantle down the road?

I’m sure this is something rogues would have looked at back in 2004-2006 but information from back then is thin on the ground!

Below is my comparison. Stats from agility, strength, and set bonuses are included.

Shadowcraft Attack Power: 240
Cadaverous Attack Power: 246
— Cadaverous achieves a similar amount while using 3 fewer gear slots.

Shadowcraft Hit Chance: +0
Cadaverous Hit Chance: +2%
— A dual-wielder needs +25% for autoattacks to never miss bosses.

Shadowcraft Crit Chance: +5.41%
Cadaverous Crit Chance: +0.28%
— From agility alone. The entire Cadaverous set boasts a whopping 8 agility combined.

Shadowcraft Set Bonus: Cotton candy and waterslides
Cadaverous Set Bonus: A raw potato

Both sets are kinda trash. People didn’t know better back in 2004 - 2006 so they sought after the sets. I would only grab shadow craft for the eventual upgrade if that is your goal.

Google search rogue BIS will show you the pieces you want. Also you will just hurt yourself trying to get 25% hit. You only need to go for 9% hit. That way your main hand specials don’t miss.

Ah, I appreciate the info! Especially the hit chance bit. 25% seemed like a staggering number so it’s good to know that it’s not an actual goal. Thanks!

If the 6pc set bonus procs often enough it could be really awesome. No one knows the proc rate yet.

Was it 9%? Why am i recalling 7%. Been along time.
