What am I doing wrong? or is Rogue really a useless char. I have chars in all characters but none failed so miserably as my Rogue in a basically compulsory (easy) quest in Tiragarde to kill a Siren boss calld Lugeia (need to kill her because she releases Flynn). I got killed more than ten times and don’t know what to do.
(waited around for more than an hour hoping somebody else happens to need this quest). But in general… does the Rogue really suck or how come I manage ALL other chars except this one, I cannot be that bad…
Well for starters, your ilvl is floor-level right now.
After that its a mix of tuning talents/rotation/having poisons on…
2211221 talents would serve you better in WQ/questing scenario. Cheat death is good in dungeons and raid.
Keep in mind your passives: Venomous wounds give back energy with each tic of rupture/garrote on each enemies. so spread it up
Your playing outlaw with daggers. Big no no
What spec? Your Armory is Sin and you’re using daggers atm but your Azerite traits are all Outlaw. You’re also a really low ilvl for 120, and since iirc everything scales up with level, mobs are probably suited for something like ilvl 330 or whatever.
I don’t remember the exact quest. Are you using everything in your kit though? Crimson Vial is a really big heal, Evasion is a huuuge lifesaver, and so long as the mob doesn’t have any DoTs on it, you can even Blind it for a full minute to get a breather, get cooldowns back, etc.
Like you can fight it for a bit, then pop Crimson Vial, fight more, pop Evasion, pop Crimson Vial again if you need it, keep fighting and then if things are getting really bad, Blind it and just… wait for a full minute, using Crimson Vial if needed during that time to top up, etc.
As Outlaw, you’ve got Gouge in addition to Blind, which might not last anywhere near as long but it still helps to buy time. Using all of this, Kidney Shot/Between the Eyes every ~30 seconds to avoid clipping DR, etc. should let you take it down.
I’m assuming the mob in question is susceptible to all the various CC mentioned above, but if it’s just a quest mob it probably should be.
I don’t see why I would have to be level 330 when the quest is one of the ‘starting’ quests, i.e. Tiragard is one of the three beginner areas, there is no way of getting higher stuff. All seven of my other characters did it at same type level.
Anyway, I could ‘take it down’ if there were not four other mobs all around hitting me at the same time. (Three appear from nowhere - I cleared everything around before starting on the boss) plus Flynn who is still on mob’s side.
So anyway, blame me for being ‘floor level’ - so what do you do at floor level? I AM DOING floor level quests!
You would probably have a lot more fun playing one of your other characters. It seems your playstyle may be more suited to another class.
All the great responses by the other Rogues is basic research any player would do before playing any class.
We have seen the enemy and the enemy is us.
Good Luck
Well people don’t gear doing storyline quests for gold. But yeah, sounds to me like you just don’t know how to play the class. That’s fine, play your other characters.
Ps: your talents are terrible. Go watch a guide for further help.
The ilvl isnt the main problem here, i just stated it as i also had trouble at 118-119-120 lvl. The power curve catch up fast.
THAT said, the main issue is that you seem to expect some easy and optimize poorly. Use a guide, take the talents suited for the spec (sin is all about crushing a single target, so poison bomb is definetly better than crimson tempest. etc) et take the azerite talent fitting the spec too. Not playing sin and have outlaw talent.
I see you’re trying outlaw too, thats fine, be sure to swap your weapons hands. the best one goes into the main-hand slot.
Rogue is generally a very overpowered class, but it could be in this case you are failing to utilize everything a rogue has to offer or can do.
It’s hard to say what you are doing wrong since we can’t watch you play.
Playing defensively isnt the most exciting way to play the game but… really knowing how to space your CDs to get the most out of them helps a ton. Dont use your CC while you have a crimson vial rolling or evasion or cloak up. Vial early in a fight (70-80%) hp depending on how fast your health is going away. Use your evasion or whatever after you are back down to 70ish% and then your vial again after you get out.
Against CCable mobs open world that give you issues really really stretch everything. CC to start and then weave CC inbetween every defensive CD or heal you have.
If you cant burst the enemy down with a 100% all in offensive rush then you need to accept that your fight is going to be longer and play a long game that keeps you in the fight for a long long time.
I just hit 120 on my rogue 2 nights ago and even now hes only 329 ilvl. Everything is getting easier but I was soloing the 3+ quests as I leveled and was still able to take all of the non party bosses as world quests right at 120.
If lugia or whatever that sirens name is is giving you issues then I can only assume you are ignoring half of what is possibly the best kit in the game. The only specs that should outdo rogues in open world are the blatant op openworld gods that are tanks these last few expansions.
Using leeching poison and GGEZ
I’ve seen a lot of very helpful comments on this post. Now for the harsh truth…rogues suck. They’re fun as can be but on this particular quest, I’ve done it with literally every other class with a great deal of ease…rogue can’t do it unless severely geared up. So yes, rogue is indeed a useless class…not an opinion, a proven fact.
Nice necro.
Can’t tell if you’re trolling…
An overtuned quest does not equate to a useless class. Rogues aren’t allowed to be lazy and if you play them that way you’ll get bad results in many more scenarios than this quest in the game. If you want to be lazy go play a Hunter where their pets literally tank for them, leech heal themselves, and do most of their DPS when you play Beast Mastery while all the Hunter does is sit there and shoot. It actually sucks for them because they’ll never get the opportunity to master a class that requires active skill from the player.
And there it is, the most nonsensical thing I’ve ever seen a rogue say.
That person is not a rogue lol. Literally do same quest naked with action bars hidden (who needs useless clutter on screen)
Kill boss on quest without losing health from bar lol.
