This thing costs an entire leg in my ream. Cant it be substituted with the Lobotomizer?
In my opinion, it can be a great substitute. Often times the bis list only list 1 item that you should obtain, but there’s usually a few substitutes available
There’s another blue dagger with attack power that’s pretty close. Or go get the AV revered dagger.
Use swords til you have perditions blade or core hound tooth + dagger gloves.
Honestly, I think the pre-bis lists are completely overhyped.
If the item you have is comparable, then you’re probably okay, because ideally it’s gonna be replaced by something better soon in raid, right? MC is easy enough that a difference of a few dps isn’t going to matter. There are plenty of good level 55+ daggers you can get from dungeons that are close to heartseeker in dps and stats. I know that +% crit is awesome, but it’s not “necessary”
Now, if you’re still swinging greens or blues that are below level 50, you might have a problem.
I’m actually following the pre bis list and I dont find them too hard to acquire. The problem is just the enchants and expensive thing/very hard to get, like Hand of Justice and Heartseeker. Crusader enchant in my realm is at like 300g.
So I really need to know if this lists are made by people who considerer cost/benefit of the item or are just made to really be the best.
BIS is there for max dps. If you where in my raid and you didn’t have full pre raid BIS you be seeing the bench. If you can’t be bothered to do this. It tells me you will go afk and or not perform right in my raid.
This thing costs an entire leg in my ream. Cant it be substituted with the Lobotomizer?
Yes. It is a great substitute. The only problem with lobo in PVE is it will apply a debuff and take a debuff slot, which may or may not be a problem for your guild.
employ your critical thinking skills to determine whether or not heartseeker is better than lobotomizer is better in the main hand
don’t just mindlessly read a guide and let other people do the thinking for you
Lobo is definitely better than HS- but that’s not the problem. Debuff spots are very limited, and most guilds have chosen specific debuffs they want, and the lobo debuff clearly isn’t going to be one of them. Ironically, the effect of lobo ends up being a major con for its use in raiding.
Not worth it at all, use the AV daggers.
That makes sense.
I have a Krol blade, so maybe I can pair that with Mirah’s Song, which a fairly easy sword to get, and makes the list. Reset talents points are not that expensive after all. I can go sword spec.
IMO, the BiS guides should be thought of as guides. Not rules. While weapons are the single biggest non-skill oriented upgrade for most classes, the “BiS” items are frequently very hard to attain. There are many wonderful substitutes out there.
A great example would be with ret paladins. HoR and BRE are at the top of the list. The latter is easier to get, but still rare. OEB and TUF are both much more attainable yet less-frequently mentioned, and both have a nice racial bonus for humans. One of the most common substitutes you’ll see in guides is the two pre-BiS weapons… An epic sword out of UBRS that almost never drops, or the Arcanite Reaper, which is arguably a waste of materials.
Follow your gut. An upgrade is an upgrade. Besides, I don’t think much from MC will last through Classic.
I dont raid, but I read that bosses are immune to stats debuff and the lobo don’t apply to them.
The problem isnt really not following my guts. The problem is the possibility of not getting into a raid if my equips/talents are getting picked on. So I needed to know if missing one or two expensive/rare items would make it impossible to get into a group, you know?
I dont mind grinding dungeons to get some items. I can do that slowly, 1 dungeon a day and try my luck. But I really need to know if 600g for 2 crusader enchant is really necessary, because I need to weight the amount of time to get the money with the benefits/fun of raiding. Wihout the fact that this weapons will be substitutable fairly(?) quickly.
Dude, I raid as ret, and I run dungeons as ret. Clearly my “damage” is low. Most groups appreciate the utility I bring, as I’m not afraid to change my auras and buffs to benefit the group.
If your guild is gonna give you crap about your gear/talents, I’d suggest finding a new guild. If a group won’t take you because you’re carrying “that weapon,” the group is probably not worth being in.
The crusader enchant is considered to be “BiS” by most guides. It’s definitely a fun enchant! I have a weapon chain on my sword. Why? Well, it comes in handy for PvP. There are plenty of weapon enchants out there that will do just fine and cost you way less. Striking enchants are nice, and they don’t rely on a proc. Agi will be coming out with a later patch, and is solid, too.
In the end… don’t worry. Just enjoy!
Barman shanker or keris of zul something are just fine, just be sure to get the distracting dagger OH
And the lobo is way better than heartseeker
Edit: as others mentioned though figure out if debuff slots are managed by your raid, because the best blue dungeon daggers both have a dot on them… Which is insanity. Glacial blade from AV will be just fine in that case.
Can’t rogues buy some decent daggers from PvP vendors after levels of rep are attained?
Not joining guilds with leadership like this is even more important than following any bis list.
in my experience is faster to get into a raid and gear up than getting pre raid gear
