So ive decided to roll rogue, but for classic I am thinking of doing either Orc for horde, or Human for alliance. The rep bonus for Human is nice to me because I would grind the Winterspring tiger mount, and for horde, the stun resist seems nice.
Although is WotF that OP in PvP vs the stun resist? Because I seem to always see more UD rogues (case in point my rogue) and I know getting feared in classic kind of sucks, but so does getting stun locked.
For Undead vs orc, I have always looked at it like this. WOTF will get you out of 100% of the first fears that hit you. Orc racial is a chance of just resisting.
As a rogue you will be starting most the fights, and outside of another rogue getting the jump on you, there isn’t that many stuns in the game. But you being able to get out of a fear that a warrior, priest, or lock puts on you, after you open on them, is game changing. But then again resisting a stun is also game changing.
It always seemed to me that fears are a bigger problem for rogues then stuns. But I’m sure you could find people that disagree with me.
Not to mention as a rogue: you shouldn’t really be hit with that many stuns in the first place out side of those damn stun bombs. As the only stun rogues should be afraid of is turaun’s war stop but if you go horde: your only real fear is gone.
Undead is decent for solo play pvp. Orc is better for premade PvP.
Troll racial is fun, very useful for leveling up, berserk + SnD + blade Flurry is neat.
I like night elf animations and would consider rolling them. Stealth bonus isnt bad.
Dwarves are nice because bleed and poison remove helps you restealth in situations other rogues would be dead. Treasure finding + stealth is also neat.
Human is good vs other rogues and weapon skill is arguably best racial in PvE, though not that important tbh.
Gnome is arguably the best for PvP on alliance because snares are really annoying for melee ofc.
WotF is good against Warriors, Priests, and Warlocks, while Orc is good against everyone else (and also Warriors and to a lesser extent Shadow Priests). It’s up to you what you want to go with.
I played lots of pvp during vanilla as an ud rogue, my buddy was an orc rogue. 90% of the time you will try to stunlock, not getting stuned. It works good against a spriest (blackout), but in my opinion, if you planing to pvp alot, go with UD, it really is OP…combine wotf with the pvp trinket and you won’t have any problmes vs. fear in pvp. That’s just my input.
Think of it as whether you want offensive or defensive actives. Orc blood fury is usable while stealthed, and if you play your cards right you can flatout delete people before cheap shot wears off, However undead have both WOTF to deal with priests warriors warlocks, and Wyvern Sting, and Cannibalize to heal yourself back up after you win a fight. I can’t tell you how many times cannibalize saved me from dying to a dead rogue’s poisons or dots.
As for the orc Passive, it’ll proc way more often than you’d think, and considering you wont have a pvp trinket for a pretty long time while leveling, unless exclusively pvping as soon as you’re able, It’ll save you a lot of grief. Expecially since you’ll be dealing with paladins and Hammer of you lose.
Check out Wowhead Classic’s dressing room. While the animation names aren’t obvious (eviscerate is listed as Special1H for instance) you can look at just about everything. Short of that, roll up some characters on a private server?
For what it’s worth female undead do a sweet frontflip when they use eviscerate.
Blood Fury is tiny, but it’s something. As a rogue you will never use axes in vanilla. The stun resist is more useful against more classes, whereas WotF will utterly shut down two.
