Rogue question

The lower weapon speed is, the faster it is, right? Do I use a faster weapon in MH or OH?

I thought it was slower in off hand
Also more likely to miss in off hand
Seems like some say one way or other

You want slow in main hand and fast in off.

Your ability damage is based off of your main hand damage, so you want slow hard hitters.

Slow main hand, fast off-hand i believe.

I think the fast off-hand is to help apply poisons faster given the miss rate. But I will acquiesce to smarter people than me.

Ok, and the higher the speed rating, the slower it is?

abilities scale off weapon damage so you want the hardest hitting weapon you have in your main hand.

So let’s say you have 2 daggers and one says:
5-10 damage , 1.8 weapon speed
And the other is:
4-9 damage , 1.4 weapon speed

In this case they are roughly equal in DPS, but the first one has higher damage range, so that would be your main hand. Your rogue abilities are based off the raw weapon damage range. Attack power doesn’t even factor into eviscerate IIRC.

Yes, that value is the seconds between autoattacks.

So a 1.1 dagger will hit twice as often as a 2.2 sword.

Always use the slowest and hardest hitting weapon for mainhand and fastest weapon for offhand. The fast offhand is purely for poison procs. The mainhand top end you want because it affects every damage ability like sinister strike, backstab, ambush etc. I believe attack power and enemy armor count are the only things that affect eviscerate damage. Bleed damage is affected purely by attack power.

Just remember that you need a dagger in the mainhand to use backstab and ambush.

Ive always done slow mh fast oh when i was in vanilla

Thanks everyone! It’s been a long time since weapon speed mattered and I forgot what was what.

higher the speed rating the faster it is and less damage. You want a slower weapon in your main hand and a faster weapon in your offhand. Slower weapons do more damage.

Bigger the speed number, the slower it is.

you’re right I messed up

The reason you want a fast weapon in your offhand is so your poisons proc significantly more often, increasing your overall dps.
