I’m planning on going rogue in classic and was wondering what the best PVP spec is and what type of weapon you want in your main/offhand. Sounds like stupid questions, I know… BUTTT I have never played rogue

I would like to Say, Subtlety Dagger rogue would more then likely be the best in pvp as they have all the bonuses for improving stealth and openers, vanish cds, preparation and premed, etc.
There are a lot of pvp specs the usual one just involves back stab and cold blooding noobs with evis
I used to enjoy bleed kiting melee. Crippling poison and Rupture.
Do you wear double dagger or do you have a 1h sword/mace in your main hand?
I remember stunlock with mace spec being a thing if you wanted to go combat, otherwise sub with daggers is your best bet.

fist weapon combat spec easily the meta the pros don’t want you to know about
Honestly, i dont genuinely remember. I know i was combat daggers in ZG, but genuinely i dont believe my weapons were all that amazing. You’d need someone way more hardcore to tell you. Nevertheless, advice still stands. After 50 or so levels of boring grinding, sf/prep was a massive boost in pace and enjoyment in pvp. Sorry i cant give you more details. 
Its all a cloudy nebula of feelings and emotions at this point.
Keep in mind you need daggers in order to ambush and backstab. Also, there will be less competition on weapons from warriors and combat sword rogues if you go with a dagger build. I would suggest a Seal Fate build. Its really fun in pvp. This rogue was my main in vanilla WoW. Also, slow high damage main hand for ambush and backstab and fast offand for poison procs.

Depends on the your playstyle.
I have built rogues from - for one shotting clothies to stack stam as a CC bot for teammates. Done (BC times) mace spec, sword spec, poison spec, expose armor build for high armor targets, etc.
This is part of the beauty of classic over retail…you are no locking to into choices based on the “tree” you choose. You have can ALL your point in one tree or spread your points out evenly across all trees.
Me personally, I am going for the sub / stealthy one shotting opening build if possbile. Gonna follow some streamers around for WPvP.
