Why most class has buff to their survivability this expac? Hunter has double survival of fittest and annoying root. Shaman has increase healing and bulwalk totem. Pally just got 20s forbearance and 10% stun reduction. Monk has avoidance and more tanky. Dk unkillable with Ams and horsemen. Dont even want to mention about Frost mage. While our rogue keep getting gut CC and healing. Should our Crimson vial has 20s cd? Unnerf shooting darkness? Bring back viel of midnight with 100%dodge? Cloak in shadow back to 30% instead of 18%? Revert vanish to 3s? Fient Elusiveless and cheat death on different node? Our rogue class very fragile without Evasion and Cloak which on TWO min cd. Your vanish nerf make us unescape-able.
i think restless blades should be a baseline ability for the rogue class. and that all rogue abilities should be affected by the CDR. if they dont want to add more survivability to us, or at least buff what we have. then i think allowing us to get to them faster via CDR to the entire kit sounds thematically and logically the best idea. also Crimson Vial, Roll the Bones, Symbols of Death, and i cant really think of Sins short CD dps boost button but these should be off GCD with feint now. it just makes sense, pressing roll the bones mid rotation feels bad.
Agreed.
That is why they went back to the same well again and took Feint off the GCD. But Feint spam for Rogue “surviability” is not only boring for veteran playres, but very punishing to inexperienced Rogue players.
Blizzard need to buff crimson vial to 20s cd for 20% heal to compensate what they did to our vanish.
I do think Restless Blades flies in the face of the argument against Empowered Shadow Dust that got it removed from the game.
Our survival tools are pretty good though. Arguably some of the best imo.
Yeah. We have pretty good ACTIVE defenses. But we have pretty bad passives. This is what makes us so dependent on CD. Which in some forms of play are good but bad in others.
Having a less HP, less armor, and less dodge/parry mean Rogues become heavily dependent on having CDs up and/or just outgearing stuff. In ways that can absolutely be felt in play. Rogues take more damage faster and recover it slower then other classes.
Even if my War gets brought to 30% from a fight I will be back at 100% before the next without doing anything.
Now we can argue if this is good design in general. I’m here for that argument but given that it is the case Rogues need some QoL adjustments. Much of our healing is spread out thru a bunch of talents with no thematic focus or thru line and tend to be inferior to the straight forward options available to other classes.
And it tends to be near the bottom of our tree and tied to other auras. The whole of Rogue self heal probably needs a rework.
They could make adjustments to Crimson Vial. I would prefer that then the generic standard blanket buff to Feint.
Feint is starting to become bloated as it does everything.
Also tying damage reduction into Evasion is a mistake because you have to choose when to use it for damage reduction and when to evade which feels almost as bad when Combat Readiness CD was tied to CloS CD in Cata.
That was strange because CR was designed to counter physical damage while CloS was designed to counter magical damage.
Same problem with loading so much into Evasion. Evasion is supposed to be a primary dodge CD and tying a damage reduction into it makes no sense.
I know they put in the damage reduction into Evasion before they did double Feint charges. But with the existence of double Feint charges I would easily trade taken away the damage reduction in Evasion for a lower CD on Crimson Vial.
All blizzard need is move Elusiveness to different node with cheat death.
Evasion suffers from being a very niche defensive in a game that has long since outgrown it. A lot of damage and status effects in this game can’t be dodge. And a lot of these are abundant and common. This means Evasion has to have the 20% dmg reduction or it becomes pretty useless.
One might argue it kinda is, and the DR on it is a bandaid to salvage it.
A niche defensive has that is a product of a by gone era of design that isn’t intuitive. Do a quick google search of Rogue Evasion with people trying to figure out what does and doesn’t work against it.
Compare this to Hunters’ Aspect of the Turtle. What does it block? Everything. Simple. It removes the question of “wait can I dodge that?”
Add in more considerations like you can dodge attacks from behind, which good luck preventing attacks from behind in pvp.
So when to use it becomes this very uncertain decision and when it fails it feels bad. It contributes to Rogues being unfriendly to new players.
The ability wants to function like we’re back in Cata or before but the game doesn’t work like it one did.
True but Evasion is now Combat Readiness and Evasion in one but it does punish newer players because if they use it reduce damage they no longer can use it to evade until it comes off CD again.
Similar problem with a shared CD with CloS and Combat Readiness because if you were to use CloS to counter magical damage you lost the CD on Combat Readiness and vice versa.
BlizZard determined that it ended up being too difficult for new and inexperienced players to know when to use it as the opportunity costs were very punitive.
I feel the same way with new Evasion though. You can use it to reduce damage but then you are no longer able to use to evade damage. While that might be fine for M+ it pretty much makes it punishing in any other form of content like PVP, leveling, questing, etc.
