I never played a rogue during classic, but their “miss” rate seems incredibly high. I feel like it’s somewhere north of 50%. That is not even putting into account of blocks, parry’s, etc…
I feel like they could use at minimum a 15-20% boost in accuracy. Missing a backstab from stealth or Amush should be nearly impossible.
I mean after all (from lore perspective), they are “assassins” aka experts with blades/knives etc… How is a rogue going to miss the first shot coming out of stealth?
Nostalgia folks go but the combat was harder. Stuff doesn’ts die in 3 hits!
Correct. its like 15, 12 of them misses lol. You justs roll with it.
My other “lore” gripe is hunters and get 10 items quests. A skilled hunter needing livers one would think would not shoot the livers out on 90 animals lols.
Or paws. why is my hunter with this whole animal to hit…shooting at paws to damage them?
If your weapon skill is low enough it could really be somewhere north of 50%. Hit chance/miss chance stuff you see on guides makes the assumption that your weapons are skill capped for your level, which they will not be while you’re leveling.
It’s definitely not, but your weapon skill vs the mob you’re fighting makes a huge difference with your miss chance. If you’re struggling I’d recommend trying to fight mobs that are a few levels lower than you. You’ll notice a big difference.
You’re playing an RPG remember? you can work on your character via talents and gear. Also avoid fighting higher level mobs as you’ll miss, dodge, parry a lot more, go fight a green monster and you’ll notice most of your hits lands.
Honestly leveling as daggers is my favourite way to do Rogue. Getting a 95% crit chance with Ambush by level 30 is so funny, I don’t know why more people don’t do it.
Combat lets you solo farm SM GY @35+ for mount gold which is nice.
Riposte in wpvp or vs elite mobs is great as well. +hit talent while leveling as mentioned above is killer.
Dagger rogue is how i normally pvp but leveling and farming gold combat has a lot easier time. Also there are a ton of blue quality swords from dungeon quests the entire way up
Wingblade > outlaw sabre > sword of omen > vanquishers sword > thrash blade (prebis)
All these swords cycled into the mainhand while leveling just shreds everything. All of them are quest rewards for dungeons very easy to get every time you level. Daggers not so much.
I get getting the talent in the tree, but that seems kind of weird to have to wait till X level to spec into not missing in your baseline dmg… It’s just a weird concept to me. Most games I’ve played never have you lacking so much and kinda force you into a spec to overcome a lacking baseline while leveling.
Yep. Since classic rogue doesn’t let you carry over combo points I force an extra hit or 2 as I opt to just refresh slice and dice.
SO while I was joking (and they took serious I guess) we’ll call it 5 or 6 hits max. Low level rogue is still missing alot though. so it misses more than hits lol.
OP…rogue is not always a fun leveling process. But its fun at the end. there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
I get that, but most RPG’s have you focus on mobs your level, not 2 levels below you. I know its not going to change in this game, it’s just that the miss rate is crazy high, higher than any other game I played in a melee class is all I’m saying. Im level 25 and its not like I’m complaining about not killing a 27/28 mob, I’m fighting 24/25 and Ambush misses from stealth so much. I’m decently geared too.
First hit from stealth should almost never miss (IMO), and a mob that is gouged and you backstab that 1st hit should almost never miss too. Its like missing on a character that is stunned or asleep, like how you gonna miss lol… it’s a silly overlooked mechanic/result of coding imo.
Believe me I know and agree; hit should have been on gear from the start, like some kinda stat say for example “Of the Lion” or some biz. Being Hit and Agi.
