Not hitting the panic button, probably - this is the first time I’ve been tracking the blue posts and release notes for an expansion and class more closely.
Maybe but they move faster with larger populations of mage, paladins, hunters and DKs with changes. Rogues, Ferals, Warlocks, and Monks see lesser changes until the patch/expansions are live.
This repeated behevior is common with modern BlizZard.
Having less played classes doesn’t justify their ignorance towards so many issues and bugs with this class, considering that most of them are years old…
That is why I say feedback (especially consistently) matters because the squeaky wheel is the one that receives grease.
Silence means acceptance from their view which is why constant feedback and dialogue even in the face of no changes now is important for the first and second patch.
Given Rogues have a smaller player population we in the Rogue community have to do our best to keep discussion ongoing with Rogues current issues.
doomed to live in the shadows, so well that the devs forgot.
This made me chuckle… and heard on the comments above that, depressingly, this isn’t anything new.
Maybe we are just not loud enough.
I think there’s something to this. The existential struggle of a rogue - anyone that mains may have a preference for visual constraint, stealth, simplicity which leaves us quieter than our more Chadly counterparts.
I would agree, but also, as a long time rogue. I don’t think it matters how loud we are, because its already a under represented class. We went like a whole year being in a dumpster that was on fire, and anytime they do change things, it makes things wonkier.
personally I just think the devs don’t care about the class that much anymore. stuff and things go to the classes they actually like or that the devs personally play probably.
between the forums, and the discord you’d think rogue was about to enter their next great depression from people that like it currently, and a new era for people that just thought it was to complicated and etc.
I don’t have the best memory, I’ll admit. But, I do recall Rogues have generally been one the last classes to get their “pass” in betas and usually get their final touches post-launch. :x
I have zero hopes of a better iteration of rogue as long as the guys responsible for TWW rogue design step down and let another person/team take up the class. I’m not talking about a witch hunt regarding their jobs, maybe it’s time they go assist classes that are already more polished like hunters and paladins and let someone else take it over. The class has been a dumpster on fire for an entire expansion, we are going into prepatch with deep problems for a population of players that are waiting for over a year already, enough is enough

Wow, well put - Realizing that I’ve been waiting on rogue to be given love for the multiple expansions I’ve played it as main is demoralizing.
Feeling low stealth-esteem.
Do we have post traumatic stealth disorder?
I wish it was this easy, that was my mentality during TWW.. I had to see void weaver healers doing more damage than my outlaw in arena and our dev being radio silent about it.. Both assasin and outlaw are garbage tier in PVP going into pre patch and to be honest I’ll probably switch classes. It’s a damn cycle that rewards poor work: rogue gets no attention/ bad design —> people abandon the class—> less people to complain —> sloppy work gets less backlash —> gets more accommodated on not fixing the class/doing a decent work—> more people give up on the class .. and the cycle goes on for years, leading to the current abomination. The most infuriating thing is to see already polished classes getting a TON of adjustments on the last beta patches while we get nothing again and again and again
yeah I totally get you man, playing this class for 21 years and seeing the ups and downs of its evolutions, regressions, stagnancies, etc. has been quite the ride. but as mafic said.
the people that truly love this class will still be playing it, regardless of its iteration. the big number nerds will still be simming the best potential outputs, and the “who cares" casuals will still be playing, cause we just enjoy our stealth, ours vanishes, the gameplay.
I just wish the devs saw that, cause it genuinely feels like they don’t look at something unless you cry and shut down a discord like ret pallies did and I don’t think that’s a good way to garner favor from players.
I’m a combat rogue and always will be, and I still play outlaw even though I hate it most of the time just because the gun exists. but its better than your favorite class being removed vs your favorite spec. right? haha.
