Mate, you cannot tell me that a Sword and Axe are “mechanically identical”. Swords include Rapiers. Which are totally different in function and operation to an Axe.

It’s silly that Daggers cannot be made into Fist Weapons when everything else seems to be completely flexible. Just call it dumb. You don’t have to make up reasons for it.

In wow they swing at X speed and deal Y damage and that’s it.

Fist weapons are normalized to 1h non-dagger, so like, maces / axes / swords. Not going to happen, anyone using fist weapons (like, say, an outlaw rogue) would be in for an unpleasant surprise if it suddenly was normalized like a dagger.

I would love to see the skills that require “Daggers”, like Backstab, Mutilate, etc. to include “Fist Weapons”.

How does one backstab or mutilate while wearing brass knuckles or runestones floating around their fist?

I’m not saying they can’t or shouldn’t do something if it were possible. I’m just saying it may be a reason why they haven’t. Probably also a coding thing for specific weapons and may even be a “we don’t want more specs fighting over fist weapons” thing.

A curious question, based off one theory as to why Blizz may not use fist weapons for them (one of a few), does not equate to me being worried.

Edit: At least, if not adding the ability to use fist weapons with those skills, it would be nice to see the ability to transmog a dagger into a fist weapon.

Daggers are, unfortunately, a class unto themselves.
It really sucks for any Mage or Warlock that wants to wield a sword but can’t find one that has intelligence on it (looking at you Sir Finley Mrrgglton).
