I’m playing the rogue for the first time and sometimes I just randomly drop out of stealth? Like no damage, aoe, anything. I was just walking around orgrimmar in stealth and it randomly drops me out. This isn’t how rogues have always been has it? Kind of makes playing the class pointless.
Surprised there haven’t been any rogues chiming in yet. As far as I know, that stealth bug has been around since DF, or at least since TWW released.
I haven’t seen any fixes for it.
I thought the other threads on this determined it was due to certain trinkets or something.
It is annoying beyond belief…
Its not, it just happens randomly for no reason.
A consistent occurrence is in Mist Tirna, each time the illusion packs spawn, youre just forced out of stealth for no reason.
Yup and this bug has been in the game since at least Shadowlands.
Because, we’re absolutely exhausted with screaming at a brick wall. It’s an issue that has been thoroughly reported. And the things that fix it are a list of stupid interactions that basically amount to needing to nearly rework stealth to get it fixed.
We have a lot of stuff broken in our class right now. Multiple non-functional talents, multiple talents just not doing damage, multiple abilities breaking and not functioning when pressed. Our stealth breaking is like priority #5 in the list of things we’re worried about at the moment.
The DF issues were partially attributed to CSB doing damage to the players, or a buff from one of the healing trinkets applying on the player and ripping off the stealth buff.
Currently the list includes:
-Randomly when being buffed, inconsistent and pretty rare but has happened. More an issue with things like Pally auras being applied as they step in range.
-Various enemy AoE abilities. Including ones that don’t do damage. The “Stimulate Regeneration” casts from worms in MoTS is a good example. It will tear you out of it from 100 yds out. I’ve had the group near the boss pull me out with it while on the bridge.
-Some class AoE’s that aren’t supposed to land while stealthed (Warlock one was finally fixed after like 2 weeks, being hit by Starfire while stealthed is weirdly inconsistent. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t, etc)
And a number of weird interactions with various trinkets, enemies that seem to have truesight that don’t have the indicator/ignore vanish, sometimes stealth actually isn’t breaking if we kill something instantly with Ambush… The list goes on and on.
Basically, it’s currently easier to just go “That happened”, shrug it off, and move on.
Along with the BTE bug which is from like… Legion.
The recoup bugs that make it useless.
Various bugs with Subterfuge that have reappeared periodically in the last 6 years.
If only people realized how nonexistent fixes have been for the last few years.
It’s been around for years and years. I think I remember it happening as far back as Warlords, maybe even earlier. No one actually knows what causes it, Blizzard included.
It happened every time I used sprint. Some abilities that activate during stealth would cool down and break stealth when normally I think these abilites are just supposed to stay active until used. Don’t remember exactly what the abilities are called but it was one that would increase crit chance for the first attack used from stealth or something. But it was happening a lot. Like every time I used sprint in stealth. Anyway deleted that character lol.
DF? Try vanilla lol
It happens in prowl, too. Especially in bgs. Very annoying.
I’ve mentioned this on a few threads, but yes it happens with stealth and prowl.
What is interesting though is that it doesn’t happen with camouflage. So what’s the difference and why can’t blizz copy/paste the way camo works over to rogue and Druid.
All these people posting “it’s been an issue since at least SL” and I’m just rolling my eyes.
It’s been an issue since literally day one of WoW and will never be fixed. You just have to accept that Stealth breaks for no reason sometimes. Also, sometimes Vanish won’t save you and will also break early when it’s not supposed to. Be prepared.
Did it always break multiple times within a few minutes? Because it was breaking constantly when I was playing rogue.
I’ve been playing my rogue quite a bit so far this expansion and haven’t run into this yet.
Other than a bleed I didn’t notice or that olde tyme favorite still in combat when not in combat thing, this hasn’t happened to me yet.
I was looking at this again and at least for assassination, the talent likely causing stealth to break is master assassin. After using sprint in stealth it goes into a 3 sec cooldown and breaks stealth.
Rogues have been getting knocked outta stealth/vanish bugging out has been happening since vanilla. Random enemies will just target you with spells in dungeons w/o being able to see through stealth. Random encounters will just yank you out of stealth for no reason. Sometimes you’ll just be walking around the world and get yanked out of stealth. Some trinkets will yank you out of stealth when their buffs trigger or end… It’s almost comical if it wasn’t so annoying.
Always makes me think of the first World of Roguecraft video where the rogue is complaining about Vanish bugging out and the warlock being like “That’s a bug not a nerf.”
Almost 20 years later, still bugged. Lmao. I will say Vanish is more reliable than it used to be at least.
If anyone hasn’t seen that video it has a 10/10 sound track btw. Also some pretty mediocre Vanilla WoW PvP showcasing of what a half decent rogues could do… and how terrible the average WoW player was at PvP back then lol.
Stuff generally doesn’t break you from stealth for “no reason” nowadays. A buggy interaction is happening from actions you perform.
For example, slice and dicing in stealth while fatebound can flip a damage coin and pull mobs while stealthed.
