Hey guys, so my rogue is close to being 120 and just curious on what specific classes we have a hard time to kill 1v1 and which we can usually take down pretty quick. I’m a big fan of PvP in arena, BG and world pvp.
Let’s just say gear and skill are all equal also.
Also any tips when dueling those harder classes would be appreciated.
Good shadow priests and good mages are hard to take down. You won’t be fighting a whole lot of them though. Most classes don’t pose too much of a threat to rogues and as sub you win basically everything. Except oddly enough, sub is countered kinda hard by assassination rogue. I tend to avoid fighting really bursty classes unless I have trinket ready. Ret paladins can be hard, ele shamans can be hard.
Other rogues, specifically assassination, are probably the hardest duel for a sub rogue because of how insane the assassination rogue dot damage is. Assassination vs assassination rogue really comes down to who has more haste and who has evasion up.
So basically rogues and good shadow priest/mages will be hard duels. I’d suggest just avoiding fighting other rogues altogether as assassination is just a pain to deal with and is extremely overtuned.
Main reason I rolled Dark Iron, Fire Blood takes care of those pesky bleeds.
For me the ONLY class in terms of DPS I have trouble with is Ret. Paladins. They go for the long game and with all those bubbles, it’s annoying.
I am really only playing assassination atm as I’m new to rogue and heard it’s the best spec to start with and get use to rogues playstyle then maybe move on to sub for pvp. But pve id still probably stick with assassination
I’d 2nd or 3rd Ret pallies, they can really draw a fight out
Stupid bubble
I have found my rogue hard to play in PvP. Coming from playing a caster , I am often in the wrong positions , I forget about the gapclosers we have . Try to dispel before I realize I have no button for that etc
Maybe I will get better as I level up more . Can someone look at my talents and tell me if they are optimized for WPvP and BG’s ?
Master poisoner (elaborate planning for PvE dungeons)
Marked for death is invaluable ! Marked for death kidney or envenom for quick burst or on demand cc.
Lower levels vigor is enticing. But main point is to spread rupture and garotte and pooling energy in small downtime for envenom.
Leeching poison. Trash.
Either take cheat death for new comer, but learning to use elusiveness is a must in end game PvP.
Your other talents are okay.
DFA is built to be a sub talent, and is fun to use regardless. But not optimal for sin play.
So what PvP talents shd I choose if not DFA?
Honestly the choices aren’t the greatest. I default on creeping venom fan of knives one and system shock. Smoke bomb when situation calls for it.
Paladins are annoying af. You have to kill them 4 times, meanwhile they are pumping more dps than you
Death knights are actually pretty good against rogues as well. Especially Blood and Unholy. Even moreso against assassination rogues who’s poisons can be ignored with AMS. A plate class with active magic damage mitigation and self healing that pretty much negates burst in the form of death strike, yeah, I understand why rogues might struggle against DKs.
Ret pally is the hardest thing for you to face as a rogue. Not gonna bother mentioning healers since they are all pretty much invincible 1v1.
The only class I have issues with on my rogue
I like to run system shock as a must have, maneuverability for mobility, and death from above for gap closing. Then smoke bomb situational. Personally like this talent set up
As long as i get the jump on a ret pally, it’s at least close. Mages and Priests are annoying. And skilled druids who can stance dance
