I’ve recently posted that I’ve been experiencing lag within WoW and I was suggested to contact my ISP, but now that I’ve noticed some other things I no longer think it’s my ISP but instead WoW itself.
ElvUI says I’m getting high MS (ping). So far the highest it’s been is 312. The lowest is 42. It seems to be random when it’s high and low. My PC specs are fine for WoW. I’m running a 3070, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X and 16GB of DDR4 RAM.
I have a technician coming in tomorrow but upon running other games (such as CS:GO) my ping is a solid 37 which is fine. My speedtest clocked my ping in a 12 and my download speed at 400mbps. Upload is 15mbps but that’s normal for my province.
I really would like help because this is starting to get annoying.

Update: I did a bit of research with Rogers conflict involving WoW and found at least 5+ community posts all having the same or similar issues. This is now obviously an issue conflicting between Rogers and WoW.

As posted in your other thread, this seems to be a connection issue that starts on your local network.
That winMTR shows lag spikes of almost 3 seconds on the first hop. Until that is addressed, no one here can really assess anything else.

So the WinMTR result definitely points to an ISP issue?
Would they know off hand what it means if I show the technician tomorrow?
The winmtr points to an issue that starts on the local network. Could be the router, could be the network card, could be the modem, could be something from the ISP.
It may help to show the tech, it may not. I’d have it ready to show.
So I just did some researching and found out people have been having the same issue as me since 2014 with Rogers specifically.
Highly doubt that an internet issue reported 8 years ago is still the same one.
Two issues I found on the Rogers community both involving traceroute and WinMTR tests. One in 2014 and one in 2019. I would share the links but the forum doesn’t allow me to here.
Also just found another issue similar to mine. This guy mentioned he got 2000+ ping in WoW but 62 ping outside of it. With Rogers Ignite as well.
NOTE: I have updated my thread with multiple links towards the Rogers community with several of the same or similar issues.
Flagging your post with “Important” while you’re the only Rogers person reporting it this week is not advisable. Posting the same topic twice is also not permitted in this forum. You only make it harder for anyone to assist you.
I noticed you’re not interested in taking advice from the community trying to help you, so I think you should work with Rogers on a resolution going forward.
Doesn’t matter the time frame, it’s obviously still an issue regardless.
The issue lies within both companies, this is not an issue on my side.
You have not given any advice, but instead stated “Highly doubt that an internet issue reported 8 years ago is still the same one”. That is a statement, not advice or helpful at all.
Please do not tell me you are giving advice when you’re not lol.
It does matter. Some basic networking knowledge would make that clear.
Zungar gave you advice in two separate threads. I agree with what they said, no need to repeat.

And I took their advice with them suggesting I show the tech my WinMTR results. However they also said it may or may NOT help.
If it comes down to it not helping, what’s next?
Also how can you say for me to have basic networking knowledge to fix an issue that’s not even my fault?
You need to work with the ISP. Only you and the ISP can work out problems with your connection.
I’m talking about understanding that issues that happen years apart are unrelated. ISPs change their network, routes, software, and hardware quite often. Stuff that happened 8 years ago is a LIFETIME ago in the tech world.
This forum is for troubleshooting, but that doesn’t include guaranteed solutions. In fact, Blizzard only offers connection troubleshooting as a courtesy because they aren’t responsible for how your ISP operates.
It is true that it may be unrelated. But it’s also slightly possible it’s an identical issue. As you said patches and firmware updates are released frequently. My ISP support said at least once a week they send updates to the modem.
With that being said it’s also possible a recent patch has caused this like you said. I opened a post on a Facebook group for my city I’m in and another local said they’re with Rogers and don’t have any issues at all with WoW.
The other thing I can think of is a port concern. Maybe opening/forwarding the ports of WoW servers on the router would be useful?
It’s not slightly possible that they’re an identical issue.
I would let Rogers come out and see if they can’t fix an issue with the modem and if the issue persists then post another winmtr
It could be something as simple as replacing the modem.
It could be something advanced such as a throttle limit with WoW in specific or etc. Some restriction that isn’t allowing WoW to stabilize a proper connection.
I guess on occasion it is the least likely thing to be wrong instead of the most likely thing(s), but I wouldn’t devote any time to investigating any of that yet.
Editing to add - you’re connecting via WiFi? Can you test by connecting via Ethernet?
Can’t.
We have no active Ethernet ports in the house other than the one downstairs in the modem.
I can disconnected the modem as we need the cable line plugged into the wall as it runs off Ignite TV. If I were to run ethernet I’d have to buy an adapter for an outlet or have like a 30ft cable to run all the way downstairs and have it look messy lol.
Hey OP, I’m on Rogers as well and experience the same problems as you.
I have been trying to figure this out for some time and have been fighting with Rogers technical support on how to remedy. You’re not alone.
Question though, have you been able to log into WoW today? Since this morning I have been stuck on logging in to game server and the only fix is using a VPN.

With this company it’s entirely believable. They are crap when it comes to customer service or tech support, especially after they started contracting out staff outside the country.
Thats a problem with rogers, not wow. Its been an issue with Ignite on almost every single mmo. Cogeco is better.
