Couple points for your “gotcha” moment.
First of all, Hunters just got buffed and the complaints about the state of Hunters are almost entirely from before that buff. It was literally a week ago.
Secondly, the issue most Hunters have is lack of loot options. Only two mail classes in the game and the only class that uses ranged weapons. It’s much more difficult for a Hunter to stack a group of mail wearers to gear up. Unlike, say Druids, who can do a full group of leather wearers.
The common argument that Hunters scale better than other classes and will do well at the end of the expansion is evidence of this problem. By the time Hunters are geared up, they had to be buffed to overcome the gear deficit, then everyone cries they’re overpowered.
As for Rogerbrown, like everyone else in his guild, they do loot runs to benefit their mains. They stack raid groups with Hunters to ensure he is going into Mythic SoD with the best gear possible.
Oh no, a boss fight where hunters doing 50% increased Aimed Shot damage against enemies above 70% in a fight where the boss in ranging from 45-100%…I wonder why.
Also do look at all the other fights. Hunters literally pulling bad numbers and you get to see why. Bad survivability. Mediocre single target. The only fights we do well in are AoE fights.
Pretty sure it’s the other way around in that hunters scale poorly which is why we needed the buff in the first place.
This.
Lmao, our ST is so bad, i only feel useful in bigass packs.
BM single target is amazing
BM ST is ok, ran an spires 15 with a BM hunter, dude beat my ST by .3 .4 at most.
I averaged much higher than him though, since MM has better aoe.
BM can be good in raids because infinite mobility with no DPS loss.
Now, compared to other classes?
Bruh, it’s sad seeing a boomy going apesh^t with 8k dps at the end of a pure ST fight, their ST burst is also dumb.
That’s what I was trying to say. Hunters don’t “scale well”, which seems to be the general argument. The gear scales pretty much the same as everyone else, but Hunters gear up significantly slower. The few Hunters that get lucky with gearing up are then used as examples for why Hunters don’t need work.
I’ve yet to see anyone mention that survival is technically the highest simming hunter spec either
Players in a World First race guild are the best of the best.
The big issue with Hunters, as an example, is that a hunter parsing at 85, is doing the same amount of damage a top spec parsing at 70 or 75 (these numbers aren’t exact, and I don’t have exact numbers, but the idea is there). That’s the main issue. This is before all the other factors that go into this fight that other people have already mentioned.
In short, you literally made this up to fit your argument.
Things have definately changed, on the Jailer normal I (BM) parsed 99% at 6551 dps and our usual top dps (rogue) parsed 99% at 6404 dps and I only beat him by 150 dps. On the Nine normal I parsed 99% at 7974 dps and our other usual top dps (warlock) parsed 97% at 7640 dps and I only beat him by 300 dps. So its much much better than it used to be.
This is a very good point. He was doing top damage during the phases where, for Echo, it really didn’t mean much. From a class/spec perspective, probably the top reason Echo got world first (in addition to flawless execution of P1 and P2) was because of their stacked Boomies (who they left as Night Fae instead of switching to Venthyr like Limit) pumping Convoke in P3.
This is a great example of why you can’t really draw many conclusions by watching world first race gameplay. Those people might as well be playing a completely different game than the rest of us.
Didn’t he already have sylvanas quiver and legendary bow?
That’s fantastic to hear. This was the issue for a while earlier in the expansion, but I’m glad to hear the gap has lessened.
Not exactly. This was the case before the buffs went out. Earlier in the expansion, there was a gap difference between parses. I’ll see if I can dig up an example.
I’m getting out DPSed by a Unholy DK parsing 44 versus my 72. Also a Balance druid parsing 52 versus my 72.
Which means it’s completely irrelevant in any discussion at this point, and yet you tried to insinuate that condition still exists. Also linking a picture like that is pointless. What was the fight? What talents were being run? What gear is everyone wearing, etc…? You can’t just randomly pick some data point and say see look here! It doesn’t work that way.
You’re being negative for the sake of being negative.
Did you read my post and the one I quoted? You might want to do that before you say anything else.
Short version, most likely Echo would not have brought a Hunter at all (despite P1 and P2 mega damage) if their in group raid lead (Scripe was out of group) was not a Hunter only type of guy.
Not surprised. Rogerbrown has always been a solid world-class raider. He’s good at staying alive, he’s quick on the uptake, he’s been raiding with the Echo team since MOP, and he’s an excellent hunter player.
It’s not even a comment on the state of hunters or their DPS. It’s more like who do you want on your team? Someone predictable and comfortable like Rogerbrown or take the time to interview and onboard some new guy?
That being said, awesome. I’m happy for them.
Hunter still need buffs… maybe give them some additional reason to be in raid? Hunter provides careful aim to raid group equalling 5% more critical chance?
Just seems like raiders tolerate hunters, but don’t really seek then out in 9.0 or in 9.1
