I’ve got an M3 Pro MacBook Pro, plays the game on Ultra no worries at 60+fps, CPU usage @ 20%~ while gaming but media being played in safari is sounding robotic periodically while the game is running.
I’ve tried turning off the game optimisation mode, doesn’t seem to affect anything.
The macbook seems to be laggy as a whole with WoW open, even typing this out is a challenge due to the input lag but showing 85% CPU idle with the game minimised.
Symptoms don’t change with game settings turned down either.
System is updated etc.
At a loss, anyone had anything similar?
make sure game is actually capped and not just maxing out resources. even if cpu isn’t maxed you need to consider gpu needs of safari and if game is uncapped there isn’t much room for safari to have resources. It’s why with wow I often make sure background fps cap is set so when I do need to tab out to check a site or whatever the game throttles down and gives up resources to other applications until i return to wow.
even foreground resources though no reason to let it run uncapped. cap it to refresh rate if you can hit it and if not half refresh rate is usually next best.
I should mention that I have been running it capped at 60fps for the most part, have even tried 30fps, however when I uncap it it’ll sit somewhere around 90-100fps on average, even with the input lag happening in the background.
Not sure what’s different about today but it seems a lot better today for no reason.
I had restarted the system trying to troubleshoot but it didn’t change anything last night, only slept it overnight and now it seems fine.
Very strange.
Edit - funnily enough the symptoms have just reappeared out of nowhere after playing all day without any issues.
Only wow and safari are open and nothing else has changed.
