Robin Williams Tribute in Nagrand

With the new Aladdin trailer, and the Will Smith as Genie… talking point, I thought it would be a good idea to remind people about the Robin Williams Genie tribute in Nagrand.

Robin Williams was an avid gamer and played WoW. As most know, he sadly passed away to suicide in 2014.

This tribute has many references to the Aladdin movie and Genie’s quotes.

This was an objective of our guild scavenger hunt we did in between legion and BfA. I had so much fun writing the clue for this one.

There were people in the guild who didn’t know about it, which surprised me!

I mean contrary to common belief, new players do come and play this game. That was 5 years ago. I’d expect a lot of people don’t know about it.

I loved that tribute! I still go out there to click on the lamp. :slightly_smiling_face:

Also: Will Smith looks horrible as Genie. It’s a travesty.

I’m far from new and I didn’t even know about this tribute… i’m Gonna have to scour Nagrand next time I’m on to find it…

They need to make Opulence’s model be Will Smith as Genie.

More relevantly, there is a guide on that wowhead page that lists all the in game memorials and their person’s history.

Stan Lee is getting one in 8.1.5.

Neither did I know this; Such a tragic loss of a Great comedian. With all the health issues he was facing I can’t say that I blame him.

I’m definitely going to find this in the game before I leave…

You know they also have a dog in a quest on the horde side named Kyle which was so named after a young boy that had cancer and who loved Warcraft; I like what they did for him as well as Robin.
