RMT & Boost Communities | Now w/ Patreon

Apparently boost communities now have patreons or are asking for boosts to their discord servers in return for discounts on their in-game services. Isn’t that literally RMT?

who cares.

I would hope Blizzard does, considering it’s a violation of their ToS

I’m sure it happens, but I haven’t seen it in any of the larger communities. It’s probably not big enough to get on Blizzard’s radar. It would probably cost more money than it would save to really investigate it.

Hrm…it sure sounds like it.

I’m not sure the TOS has language specifically that would allow action for this without some “so technically” stuff that blizz mostly tries to avoid (though not always).

Given the changes that have been coming I would expect to see such language appear if this becomes anything more than “edge case” common. This seems to be their currently preferred method for handling emergent negative behaviors around/involving RMT.

There’s a reddit post in r/wow about the Nova Boost Community, so maybe it’ll get Blizzard’s attention. You’re probably right about it not being worth the time though.

It just seems like something they would want to quash pretty fast considering if one community gets away with it, the others will probably follow.

Blizzard should reward Blizzard bux (for game time, boosts, mounts) for people that rat out boosters and RMT.

You report them, Blizz “investigates”, if it’s legit, and you’re the first one? $10 Blizzard bux for you, 1 reward per 60 days.

I think that would dry up that community right quick.

Yeah, a WoW token worth of Blizzard Balance or game time (or gold equivalent) on a 60 or 90 day cooldown timer for that would be amazing.

I wouldn’t put it past them to do this. But also I want to see proof.

If you check Nova or GCG’s discord servers they’re in the #announcements channels of each. GCG is doing it with discord server boosts and Nova is doing it with Patreon.

If the actual transaction occurred, then there is something. Saying it’s something you offer isn’t really against ToS. Ex. They caught that one group that did RMT for services/boosts/carries and acted on it. This seems to be treading a weird line.

Send info to Blizz, bringing it up on the forums rarely gets anything done.

If you have screenshots and the like to prove it, along with links, they might look into it. I’m not sure.
