It should come as no surprise that once blizzard unlocked all (or mostly all?) of the servers to be open for transfer that botting has once again skyrocketed. With the amount of people on mega servers and the price of herbs (especially) bots are once again flooding every server, loading up and then transferring everything they can nab over once they have enough. This now includes bots fly hacking and using other exploits much worse than the initial flood we had months ago. Since blizzard seems unable to keep up please for the love of all that is holy lock the mega servers again. This will not get rid of bots but it will make it significantly less profitable for them which will mean less people are doing it and it will prevent those already overloaded servers from getting more people on them that i’m sure they don’t want. Just lock the servers so instead of running into a hundred+ bots or RMT players leveling, herbing, instance locking themselves, and other ridiculous things it can go back down to the dozens. Thanks. Also ban wave when?
AQ is event is done, blizz gave all they cared to give. Time for them to rack in the $$$ with bots buying server transfers and botters subscribing on new accounts.
There will be a bot ban because blizzard stands to gain $$$ when they have to buy new accounts. In the end it will have very little effect because botters make enough $$$ to just keep buying more accounts to do it all over again.
I mean I agree 100% but can you imagine how much they’re making off these guys paying to xfer from low->high pop?
It’s never gonna happen man
People need to remember: Vanilla WoW had between 400,000 to 1 million bot accounts. This is a substantial amount of revenue. There are multiple sources of data on this. Youtube markee dragon gold farmer and such.
One gold seller alone did $500 million USD a year in revenue and was funded by Goldman Sachs. That company purchased Wowhead, Thottbot, etc.
So yea, bot accounts make up a massive amount of revenue for Blizzard. They purposely allow them to stay and even make active game changes to inflate the number of bot accounts needed to service it’s customers (30 instance limit).
I rarely post, but its getting to be too much. I play on Pagle and the majority of the old gold sellers and bots are still there. Ill give some credit as a few VERY obvious ones were banned but most still flew under the radar. I report when I see them but it doesn’t do anything .
If you go to silithus at nearly any point in the day you will find mostly hunters/mages farming twilight mobs non-stop and they usually stick close to black lotus spawns. The northwest twilight camp and north east are the most botted. They also camp north east crystal vale near that lotus spawn.
There’s a few gold sellers that hide in the rocks throughout the zone all day and week long spamming eagle eye. If you’ve found them before you know where to look and who’s doing it.
Burning Steppes is bad. I don’t even try there anymore most of the time there’s someone camping a spot all day. A few people are doing this in Winterspring.
I haven’t been back to Eastern plaguelands because there was a guild dedicated to farming lotus there. Half seem to have been banned, but I noticed they moved into a new guild and are doing the same thing in different zones and spreading out.
The other thing is the mages in world chat spamming carries who are obvious gold sellers.
Probably true but good god everyone is going to get pissed off at bots soon, even those that aren’t now.
I play on Pagle to and farm lotus in Burning Steppes. Most of those campers are actual players that have been forced to camp nodes to compete with the hunters using Eagle Eye to scout the entire zone in a few minutes and suck up all the lotus and RTV spawns. I keep reporting the hunters I know are involved in RMT and nothing happens. I have been successful at getting some banned for griefing when they try to agro mobs on you for camping in high yield locations. I would love to be able to roam and chance upon a lotus once in a while but with the RTM hunters it’s almost impossible. So I camp when I need lotus and roam when I need dreamfoil and silversage.
Yeah that’s pretty standard for everyone. Especially high pop realms. Just ridiculous that the obvious RMT hunters that sit in burning steppes for 12+ hours don’t get banned. Just follow the gold, they’re trading either the gold or the lotus to someone but alas too hard i guess.
Am i the only one that doesnt know what RMT stands for ?
Real money transaction. I honestly just want the bots level to go down a bit, every server is getting inundated with them again.
If only there was a method available that had us buy gold from blizz instead of gold farmers. Too bad they’ve never come up with a solution to stop gold sellers.
Real Money Transaction – selling of in game gold, items or services for actual real world cash.
