Shadowlands has one major issue that will come into play for Rising Mist; Rising Sun Kick has an obscenely high haste requirement to remove most of the necessary resets and actually maintain the maximum Renewing Mist for even a modicum of time. In the assumption that SL will not hit 40-50% haste till the second or third tier, I am supporting a change to drastically lower that requirement;
Change Blackout Kick to reduce the cooldown of Rising Sun Kick by 1 sec.
This will lower the 0% haste cd for RSK to 6 seconds, meaning that even with no haste the spec will be only two seconds off of fully extending each Renewing Mist.
By 20-25% haste you should be able to play RM at the same capability as current.
EDIT: changed rsk cd from 7 to 6 at minimum, math error.
Doesn’t change much since the rotation will add a gcd due to it coming off cd at the same time as ReM.
I like this idea, I would prefer the consistency, it feels terrible to slog through a 4x blackout kick and not reset. At the very least they could make it a stacking 25% if not what you suggested. Honestly MW attacks feel god awful without a good amount of haste, extremely sluggish and unsatisfying, where as high haste feels exhilerating. It would be nice if MW melee abilities were just put on the flat 1s GCD but then haste would scale pretty poorly if you want to do any sort of fistweaving, but maybe that would increase build variety??
Honestly a lot of mistweavers still playing rising mist are likely playing it mostly wrong, stacking haste is a meme and fishing for rsk resets will end up in a loss of healing overall for basically 99% of the players attempting it. Much better to basically play as you would with Upwelling, but with Rising Mist. Just throw RSK on CD with EF for max benefits basically, with some TFT-RSK if it aligns. Unlucky that people complained a lot about the inital nerf, it would have been much better.
As for shadowlands, I’d rather see the talent reworked into something else entirely. Hots extension mechanics can get out of hand very easily and they are in general very unforgiving. A better implementation of this mechanic is simply in the form of a cooldown. See Flourish for Druids and Evangelism for Discipline. Even Mistweaver had this too in MoP with TFT, it’s not like bringing this back would be a new unseen thing before.
Yeah I’ve basically just jump in for a tft kick combo for a quick boost and go back to normal healing. I still want haste just because it feeeels really good, spinning out quad blackout kicks like a machine gun just feels right.
Considering EF is such an uninteresting spell, I’ll still argue the current implementation is better then the initial nerf; no matter what numbers might have been (though we’re talking about a 50% increase to the healing of Rising Mist, which is no where near a ‘top heal’).
As for the cooldown, I’m not sure that would be an increase at all, especially dependent on how long the cd is.
If it’s a full reset (a la MoP) then you should be able to get 5 or 6 if you tft-ReM, any higher then 30 sec and you would lose time at 5 stacks. At that point we’re basically just arguing on which is more unforgiving.
EDIT: Man it’s early for me.
Even at 30 sec this doesn’t math out. Unless you purely focus every tft on the ReM duration increase you will only hit 5 ReM at the start of the fight and otherwise remain at 4 for the duration.
EDIT2: Not even then, it’s still 4 and you often drop below that because different ReM’s have weird fall off points that land in the middle of the cd.
yea don’t get me wrong I absolutely hate EF. Essentially I just wanted to say that the initial nerf would’ve likely been better numbers wise. Gameplay still sucks either way though
With the idea of a full reset in the form of a CD, I’d put that in a context where the spec is reworked into having high amounts of renewing mists out, no way that would work with how the spec is currently, or it would at least be very underwhelming.
Hopefully Shadowlands have some exciting changes for us, the initial changes for the unpruning are okay at best. We are definitely in a stronger state in alpha than in live, but it’s really only because we get a mediocre new CD that is basically only gonna do an extra 3-4% of our healing. The spec is a bugged mess though with the healing orbs from ToD and Yu’lon not even being implemented and the new Chi-Ji still having a mana cost despite not being listed. Just gotta wait until they drop their first “post-unpruning” iteration on MW!
