River Rapids Wrangler achievements

Hello! I just wanted to bring to attention (in case you didn’t know) that the River Rapids Wrangler achievement needs a bit of a fix. Half the time when you case the net, even if you are accurate in your toss, it does not capture the fish. I’ve seen some videos of people being able to complete the achievement as is. Congrats to them but it still could use some fixing if possible.

I did read a topic that said that if you “wiggle your character” while in the boat that it would reset the position from underwater to the top but that has had no major impact when I tried implementing it.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

I feel like the count required either needs to be lowered to ~35 or so or the boat needs to be slowed down by at least 30% during the ‘rapid’ parts, because honestly, with as finicky (read: bugged) as the nets are, even hitting 35 is as much luck as skill.

Agreed no matter how many time I toss both net’s I just can’t get this done also would be nice to have something that tell you how many fish you got. I can’t see anything anyplace.

I agree with this post 100%!!! I litteraly can’t get past 32 because of the buggy nets. Wish I would have completed this before they patched it…

I can’t either and what’s weird for me, I have no count message that comes up so I can see where I’m at. Nothing. And…the nets aren’t catching them right. I’ll wait until after Tuesday maintenance and try again.

The count is a stacking buff wherever you stash those, or it was for me. I haven’t touched this since the day I posted, because the attempts I made were that frustrating.

You can drop quest and restart and your #s from previous run count

EDIT - apparently patched now.
1 - Do the run.
2 - Don’t ask him to restart the run, go up to the top manually on your dragon and start a new run.
3 - Your count will reset, but not the count for the achievement and when you get the required amount you’ll get the achievement.

Now, Is this an exploit?

This IS a AAA game development studio worth multiple billions of dollars who had a public Alpha and Beta of this, and this has also been live since launch, and they allowed the renown Exploit to go through just fine, and we also have the fact that this is common knowledge as of the launch (it’s on youtube) and survived at least one week of what is basically daily maintenance. Not to mention that the trigger for it, doing the event again, seems to be exactly what one might do when trying for the achievement.

So, is this an exploit?

IDK.
But your almost certainly not going to get in trouble for it.

That got patched.

Hi Blizzard,

Please nerf the boat speed and improve the net accuracy so the achievement will doable. Now it is impossible.

I don’t know if it’s still the case but I tried one attempt, I only got 33 netted. Then I tried again and the buff carried over my 33 from the previous try and I got the achievement to pop after I caught 7 more. Probably a bug but it worked that way for me.

For the people thinking to cheese this achievement, don’t do it. It’s completely doable, and you’ll feel a lot better completing it the right way instead of cheating.

When was this?

It is next to impossible to complete this achievement. You need to hit the fish dead center of the target or it does not register. I really wish I would have completed this before it was patched, will probably never get this in its current state.

tried this after it got patched. both cheats don’t work anymore. highest i’ve gotten is 37 after about 20 runs. guess this will be like the darkmoon fair races and i’ll never get gold once the cheats have been patched out.

Try to get 16-20 fish in the starting area and just catch as much as you can from there. I somehow barely managed this achievement for the boat after 20-30 tries.

I spent about 5 hours over the past week or so trying to get this achievement, the closest I ever got was 39… and frankly I have no clue how I even managed that, because every other run has been somewhere between 32-35.
now the fact that I -did- get 39 once means its ‘technically’ possible… but its so buggy that its just frankly unenjoyable.

reducing the number of fish required to 35 or something would be decent, since that would still be challenging -enough- without requiring literally hours and hours worth of attempts.

edit: update… I -finally- managed it after another 20 or so minutes working on it.
still have no clue how I actually managed it. (I think its because I was throwing nets behind me more than in front on this run.)
but even though I can confirm that it is -possible- even after the patch. I still think it could do with some tuning. either to slow the boat down a touch, fix how the nets work to make them more reliable, or lower the number of fish required.

just because I was able to push through and get it done, doesn’t mean it was a pleasant experience.

Add in a little latency from horrid internet; the best I can get is 25. I thought it was my whole issue with hitting fish until seeing this (and others) post. Blizzard, think you can adjust this a bit? I’ve been at it for a few hours, and I got a few more hours in me of trial, but since this was bugged and people got it without this level of frustration, it would seem smart to adjust it a bit. Come on peps, throw us a net…
