Rise of Thotbot?

It wouldn’t be the classic experience if thotbot wasn’t back up and running. I hope its able to be revived.

It’s owned by wowhead. They have brought back some of the comments on their classic site and given wowhead classic a thottbot “skin” but the site as we remember it will not be coming back.

That stinks but understandable. Thank you for your reply!

You should check it out. They actually did a half way decent job with the skin. Unfortunately you’re still stuck with the horrific mess of advertisements and terribly written code full of memory leaks which are bound to crash your browser tab if left open for too long.

Or you could, I dunno, install an ad blocker browser addon like uBlock Origin…

Just use Brave

No… ZAM Network Owned Thotbot… then Purchased WoWhead.

It would be NICE if they ReLaunched Thotbot for all of the WoW Classic Database info…

But I dont think they will

NoScript works well also, that’s the one I prefer. It not only can block ads and popups but also can prevent ANY scripts from running without your consent. This can cause trouble loading some websites if you forget to unblock the site when you load it.

I use Classic DB.

It’s unfortunate they didn’t create a separate site and follow the original format (although I can somewhat understand because of the lack of interoperability with their databases now and Thottbot’s). You can try to view many pages used archive.org’s Wayback Machine.

https://web.archive.org/web/20061010001022/http://www.thottbot.com/

That’s a capture from October 10, 2006. Navigation may be… tricky at times. Searches rarely, if ever, work. You can still find many of their pages in true to form replication, though.

Edit: sigh - I am not sure my iPad and I will ever get along when typing in these forums haha.

I do not like Classic DB. Its my hangup I know. But yea.

wowhead for me.

I do believe they have most if not all of the comments rolled into the comments section on the classic wowhead site. So there is that.

Well THAT’S your problem right there!

When I’ve been researching functionality for some of the posts in the Classic Beta Test Forum, I’ve found that many comments appeared to be missing. I think they might actually be from Wowhead.com during that timeframe, but I’m not certain.

Haha. I love my iPad, but I hate virtual keyboards! proceeds to complain about newfangled technologies and new were better back in the old days Hahaha.

Edit: hate :triumph::sob: (autocorrected to have, which is technically true, but not what I meant haha)

That was pretty cool, I literally watched you edit your post in real time. /nerd

Touchscreens are the devil.

random story:

I live in Cali, so over the 4th of July weekend I headed up towards Lake Tahoe up to the Sierra Nevada mountains for a long weekend to get away from civilization for a few days. A buddy and I went on this insanely gnarly hike and I had my phone in my pocket the whole time (no cell service thankfully), but when I pulled my phone out of my pocket I had somehow started a text message to another friend that was like 25 lines of random letters, numbers and punctuation marks. Thankfully since we didn’t have any cell service the message never got sent, but yea, I was totally pocket texting random people with all kinds of random crap because of that stupid touch screen. It was pretty funny though.

Back during vanilla wow I used Allakhazam and genuinely believed it would be longest lasting one of them all… boy was I wrong <_<

It’s all loaded in to WoWhead now.
