According to the sloot stream, the old Azerite is still here. Significantly, there’s no cap on respec costs.
Come on. We can respec the new neck at will in a rest area. Why can’t we do the same with azerite armor?? Why is that still a clunky, gold based system?
I know exactly what I want, and I know I won’t be happy with anything blizzard does, because what blizzard would need to do is something they will NEVER do (based on years of experience with the company and constant disappointment… past behavior is the best indicator of future behavior).
As far as AP is concerned, I would have been happy if they had just left the cap at 50 and made azerite traits automatically unlock on all future gear as a result, effectively retiring the system as an admitted failure that we wouldn’t ever have to think about again.
As a rule of thumb, I always get upset at blizzard over two things, because they continue to fail at those two things:
-
spec balance. I don’t expect perfection, but there is no reason for outliars largely above or below the rest of the pack, and there is no way something like the MDI rankings should have happened, where all of the top teams use the same exact comp because they’re just THAT broken.
-
anything revolving around permanent grind mechanics and/or casino parallels to gearing.
I didn’t complain about basically anything for the entirety of wrath, save maybe ret being weak in arena after the first season.
There’s a lot of issues with this…
-Possibility of forcing players to pvp, raid, or world quest (Assuming you only do some of them and and not all. Example: Raiders only doing wq, M+, and raids having to pvp.)
-Praying to RNG gods to upgrade the essences potentially benching people if they don’t get the upgrades.
-Possibility that these abilities are on GCD
-Another monotonous, unsatisfying grind.
-Possibility of terrible respec systems. Let us respec at will, for free, by visiting the forge. Let this also apply to our azerite traits instead of paying insane gold prices.
-Possibility of specific classes get larger values out of the same traits compared to other classes, once again creating an overshadowing class/spec meta.

The levels of the neck should be based on overall reputations, quests and world quests we do. For example, make it so if we get exalted with the two reps it levels up, like what, 8 levels? Then make us do X amount of world quests, and then do the campaigns to level it, and then at the end make us clear the entire raid on atleast normal. How hard is that to impliment, gives players something to work towards, without the ridiculous grind, without feeling monotonous…
Simply giving players ilvl, repeatable content like M+, assuming they fix all the unbalances, and raids every few months is enough, TBH.
Oh man you guys got your shiny new “buttons” it will be so “fun” having that completely arbitrary 100K firebreath that I will be stuck to me like an ex-girlfriend I broke up with a month ago and refuses to leave because it has a passive haste effect attached too it.

Will the essences we collect be account-wide or will each character have their own collection?
These essences look customizable on the surface, but I figure there will be one, or at best, two builds of essences that will come out as far above the rest, and everyone will have the same thing per spec.
I’m more concerned with how often the essences will open up (every 5 levels?) and how AP requirements will rise per level (still 30% each?) and also, how easy / difficult it will be to attain AP with regards to that.
Can’t wait for the tuning passes on PTR iterations…

Each caracter I’ll bet. In World of Grind you need to grind

Nothing redeemable about the proposed system announced yet.
Well since the post i created didnt get any bites here is my feedback.
The abilities while neat, has me concerned.
It all seems generic. There does not seem like there is any ability specific for classes only roles and that is really kind of boring when my WW monk uses the same Azerite ability as Ret Paladin would. It all just feels like a really powerful 3rd trinket.
- Does the ability get effected by Wind walker mastery so I can actually weave it into my rotation?
- Is the Heart of Azeroth going to have enough abilities to truly differentiate between classes?
- Are we going to be able to swap out abilities at will or at least be able to reforge them when we feel like that the ability we chose looks great on paper but in practice was pretty bad for our playstyle?
- Will there be Minor powers that can actually help any class resource management? or do something to simply help offset some of the issues classes actually have and not just stat bonuses? Are there any Major Power power that would feel differently then on use trinkets?
- Will these abilities be on the GCD or off the GCD?
- Will we have abilities that can effectively weave into our rotation with 6 - 45 second CD instead of a big 1.5 min to 4min Cooldown like the preview shows? Strike of the Windlord was an artifact ability that was used every 45 seconds
- Will the development team be making Minor artifact power to not feel so much like a current azerite gear trait? like this one (Every 2 seconds, the Heart of Azeroth absorbs nearby latent Azerite energy, increasing your Haste by 29, stacking up to 10 times. is pretty useless for WW monks when we already have fury of Xeuen to do very very similar things.)
- What is being done for the possibility of specific classes get larger values out of the same traits compared to other classes, once again creating an overshadowing class/spec meta
Like I had mentioned previously the issue that I have with the current preview is that The Heart of Azeroth it appears feels nothing like an artifact but a simple 3rd trinket slot. None of the current Artifact power previews, while they look really strong, does not change my rotation in a meaningful way at all as was stated by Ion in interviews. Why? Focusing Iris is a 1.5 min CD… which means It would only be worth while for bursting but not sustaining and to me that would not feel good. I would just use it with Touch of Death and forget that I even have the ability from time to time.
My hope is when more and more abilities come out that we have some things that we can actually utilize regularly truly change how our rotations work. Classes have been the 2nd largest complaint, next to Azerite gear, of things we want to see fixed. I also hope Minor power can provide power to under used talents or abilities each class has to have them more attractive because like it or not despite the best efforts of tuning…we do have far more cookie cutter builds this expansion than we did in legion.
TLDR: The current ability preview has Heart of Azeroth look like nothing more than a 3rd trinket slot that does not actually change our rotations in a significant way. Which causes a few questions.

I would SO love them to NOT be on GCD. Just add to a macro and forget they exist. I have too many buttons already and my MM hunter has total of 5 keybinds already !
If all the abilities are nothing more than big burst cooldowns then yeah I really dislike on use trinkets so I would rather marco them to an ability and forget they exsist.
Especially if CD is something close to one of your abilities.
I’m losing some trinket uptime between Icy Viens and 2 min cd on trinket (I don’t even remember if I still have it equiped).
But I figure better combine all every 3 mins than forget to use a trinket on CD.
Edit : Went to see my own armory. Yep, still have it
In a interview with Ion, He stated that the abilities will change your rotation in a meaningful way. Any ability that is given that is longer than 45 seconds would not do that at all.
Ok, that actually means : GCD.
Wait and see I guess. PTR is next week
Edit : on screen shots they had some having 4 minutes CD
yeah its unfortunate but its a wait and see thing. All I want is an ability i can use regularly in between a basic rotation.
Well the fireball one is 2 charges with a 30 second cooldown at least so far.
where do you see that one? I don’t see anything like that in the preview.
It’s on the Crucible of Flame essence and it’s the example they give for talking about upgrading essence levels. Looks like it’s tailor made for a Fire Mage, as the passive gives crit.
