EA continues it’s dumb decision making. It has dissolved BioWare and has stopped production of the new Mass Effect.
It is sad, but Bioware has been circling the bowl since ME3. All the talent that made BG2, NWN, KotOR, Dragon Age: Origins, and Mass Effect had been long gone years before this decision was made. The things that made those games great are things the bean counters at corporate just don’t allow.
yes… and when all the studios and ip’s have been gobbled up, expect ASI slop being run a handful of companies. MONEY literally means nothing to them. Control and the narrative is the primary motivation.
That’s a huge bummer. I’ve played all those games over the years. If you ask me, this comes from the whole EA deal with Saudi Arabia. Shareholders got theirs, gamers got dookied on. Nothing new here…
Does this also mean they canned the remasters of the KotOR?
That’s the shame of it all. One of the greatest series in gaming history destroyed by culture. Characters were turned into a world issue instead of having a story yet dealing with something. Add to that with Saudi Arabia buying the company in which that they had no interest in the players but the shareholders. I lament the old crew from ME 1-3 and older games like Dragon Age. I was rooting for the new ME and if you saw the released trailer it looked great. But BioWare faced to many problems and the fact that they purposely killed the company.
Dragon Age 2 is the precursor to the millennial writing we suffer from today in everything.
The only sorrow I feel over this is that the cretins behind all of the ills of Bioware will now just infest other studios.
BioWare was dead long before EA made it official. They haven’t put out a good game in over a decade. Everyone who made it legendary has left long ago.
It’s why they put out slop like Andromeda, Anthem, and Veilguard. Even if EA were to let them finish the new Mass Effect game, I would have zero confidence in modern-day BioWare’s ability to make it any good.

Much as I would like a new Mass Effect game, I absolutely do not want the BioWare team that put out Veilguard (especially the writers) anywhere near it. It would have to be outsourced or licensed to a studio that is actually good at its job.
I want an epic story in a rich sci-fi universe, not an HR lecture about pronouns. Yes, that was an actual thing in Veilguard, and it was about as cringe as you can imagine.
Even if you ignore all the “woke” elements, the development process alone was a comedy of errors, changing goals, bloated development costs, inefficiency, and bad management. It’s the same managerial incompetence that doomed Anthem. BioWare was simply not a well-run studio. All the good employees and leaders left over a decade ago.
