I just want to make sure i’m reading the changes right… it’s no longer something you drop manually on the ground but something that procs passively on the ground via your cooldowns (for example combustion and icy veins)…I don’t know how I feel about that yet lol
I think it’s a good change, especially for arcane who had to press a ton of different cds before actually going to dps. I still don’t like RoP personally but I think it’s better like this. I’d still prefer if they just got rid of it.
If this is true, then it’s great news.
ROP is an horrible talent.
Mage discord said they have to iterate on it yet so we’ll see
Tbh I’m glad to see it gone. As long as they adjust our damage properly I see this as a great change
I stopped by one of my biggest haters funeral today. Just to make sure that homie was dead
Can someone post a link? I want to print this out and put it on a banner and throw a party if this is true.
Now ROP is casted on your feet when u cast your CD (Combustion , Icy veins or Arcane power) , 2Min CD for all the CDs
Good change. Now wondering if its worth to take it or go IF

Arcane:
Casting Arcane Power creates a Rune of Power on the ground for 15 sec which increases your spell damage by 40% while you stand within 8 yds.
Fire:
Casting Combustion creates a Rune of Power on the ground for 15 sec which increases your spell damage by 40% while you stand within 8 yds.
Frost, Initial:
Casting Icy Veins creates a Rune of Power on the ground for 15 sec which increases your spell damage by 40% while you stand within 8 yds.
Arcane Power had the cooldown changed from 3 minutes to 2 minutes, but Icy Veins is still showing up on Wowhead as a 3 minute cooldown. The latter does appear to be available a few levels earlier.
Uhm? weird maybe they forgot about it lol
I would have been happy to see IV drop to two minutes, so how about we hope they did just forget to add that change?
Changing RoP and baking Charged Up into Touch of the Magi makes me think arcane’s opener won’t be quite so annoying. I’m also looking forward to getting rid of Worldvein.
Thanks for the link.
Also for the “am I reading this right” did they just make supernova baseline?
Actually it sounds like a huge nerf to Rune of Power.
Instead of being usable once every 45 seconds, now you can only use it once every 2 minutes.
Sounds like a dead talent to me.
Supernova and Nether Tempest switched spots.
That thought had occurred to me as well. I’ve never cared for RoP, but I would like to avoid dead talents.
If you think about it it makes the other talents on that talent row much more viable.
Do you want you CD to be extra punch take RoP, if you want just some passive damage take IF, if you want some crit and give out some support take FM.
This seems like it could give mages a reason to switch talents for situations.
Ah well one day I will actually get to use supernova, but today is not that day. Either way still overall happy with how the changes are looking.
well not really , blizz for sure balanced mages around ROP usage , now that is 1 time every 2min , i guess they can boost base dmg a bit , since we are losing the burst (2 rop at the start with Cds is huge)
I don’t like the change, I enjoyed manually casting RoP and lining it up with meteor or pyroclasm procs. This makes it only usable during combustion. I understand why they did it (because with mirror images baseline, it’s now an extra cast at burst) but I don’t think it was necessary and I think this weakens our situational burst as we can’t now time rune for specific adds/mechanics to get a more oomph when combust is off cd.
If they don’t like them being chained, take away the second charge and just give it a 45 second CD flat, but I say keep it castable
But what if you take night fae and kindling?? Will the cd of rop follow combustion’s cd in scenarios like this?
