RIP Kel'thuzad

Another great villain, retconned into some Jailer sychophant even though it makes no sense and nobody likes the jailer as a villain.

Rest in spaghetti, skellybro.

A friend of mine who was a big WC3 fan once told me Blizzard would ruin the story with WoW.

I thought he was full of poo when he told me that years ago. Boy was I wrong.

Road to Damnation makes it clear that Kel’Thuzad was gangpressed into serving the Lich King but also wanted knowledge besides that.

All that tells us is that the Legion was not the top dog in concerns to the Scourge and now we know who is!

Kel’Thuzad spent so much of his time licking the boots of the top dog he became a loyal servant of his.

Arthas was the only one in the group who acted as if Kel’Thuzad was a friend. Kel’Thuzad treated him as a fellow servant of his master.

Only at the end does he reveal whose boots he licks!

I like the Jailer and think he has a interesting potential. I want to see where he goes!

It’s not really a retcon though, it’s just a development. Kel’thuzad was killed by us in Wrath. Naturally he went to the SL, as all souls do. A Scourge commander isn’t likely to turn a new leaf and be a defender of Maldraxxus. Of course he’s going to side with the other evil dude who was behind the Lich King that he served in life.

As what, a cleaning solution mascot?

I am an evil genius. Look, I am wrecking the shadowlands. All I do is win y’all.

Umm…evil leader, remember how I said leaving the rune carver’s room by the entrance was a bad idea?

Yeah…what of it.

Well you know how the mall walker has made like 20 legendaries so far? after visiting your tower, several days a week to get ash.

Yeah?

Well they just walked in and made 10 more for 9.1. I have to ask again…why the hell did we put the dude who makes their raid boss killing gear in the part of the tower with no guards? You can literally walk into the place on accident looking for the restroom ffs, dude.

I have a cunning plan minion.

Whatever baldrick.

He’s the most incompetent and uninteresting villain in WoW history, and that’s a REALLY low bar.

Captain Grim making fun of him somehow managed to make him more interesting.

Well he’s going out with a bang, as from what the fight was on PTR looks pretty god damn good note to go out on for him

Said cunning plan is for us to bring the Primus’s Sigil to the Primus naturally.

The Primus of course proceeded to establish an Echo of his Runecarver self while leaving the premises.

Kel’Thuzad’s Necromancy was easily discovered by the Kirin Tor so him siding with a bungler who was using more intelligent Villains is expected!

The Broker Book in 9.1(which mentions 2 Brokers one of which is Ve’nari searching for the Sepulcher) combined with the Brokers’ desire to ask Ven’ari questions(which suggests they think she is to blame for the Jailer’s rampage) implies that Denathrius joined the Jailer long after Denathrius’s Nathrezim spurred on the creation of the Legion.

That means the Jailer creating the Scourge was a spur of the moment decision resulting from Denathrius striking a bargain with him.

Why did Denathrius side with the Jailer despite already creating the Legion? The Jailer while imprisoned started ranting about washing all away. Denathrius liked that part(he had Sargeras create the Legion for the sake of washing all away) and immediately backed the Jailer’s plan to seek the Sepulcher’s secrets.

Denathrius’s goal is to find a Cosmic Leader who would go on an omnicidal rampage and back said Cosmic Leader. Sargeras was converted into such a leader while in Zovaal’s case Denathrius only learned of Zovaal’s omnicidal nature after he helped imprison the guy for trying to steal his Sigil!

The Jailer uses Denathrius yet recklessly backstabs him every chance he gets! Arthas killing Mal’Ganis, Arthas helping Illidan kill Tichondrius, Arthas kicking out the Nathrezim, the Jailer himself refusing to free Denathrius, etc.

The Jailer must be really bitter that Denathrius helped imprison him even if Denathrius teamed up with him once the Jailer started acting omnicidal!

This somehow manages to be more inconsistent than DBZ’s writing.

Summary

And final death. We are killing him for once and for all in Sanctum of Domination as we literally destroy his soul and delete him from existence.

yeah game would be so much much better if whenever we faced a vilain we would lose, at least the said vilain would stop looking like a retard

You indeed were a fool haha. I started to think they were going to ruin the story when we first killed kelthuzad in vanilla

“He’s not wearing boots, milord.”

Poor Kel’thuzad deserved more. I’ve waited years for his inevitable return only for him to become a jailer minion for no reason.

Rest well, lich-with-many-titles, may Blizzard spare you from their terrible writing in the future.

Atleast his fight is going to be epic.

I gave up on following the lore. Stuff changes too much to bother keeping up with it all. Now I just want to kill stuff.

People’s nostalgia of Vanilla/Classic raiding gets the better of them. Lore-wise, he’s always been a Lieutenant, not a master schemer himself.

Being a minion of the Jailer is perfectly in line with his character.
