RIP "Breaking the cycle", absolutely nothing is changing with factions

i’m surprised they don’t use war-mode as the toggle for grouping/not grouping with the other faction. Hate Horde? fine, turn on your war-mode and you don’t have to deal with them infiltrating your groups. Hate Alliance? cool, turn on your warmode and go slay as many as you like.

don’t care, and think the faction war is forced? turn off war-mode, enbrace your peace-loving hippie side and group up with whomever you darn well please.

This would have never been an issue if people rolled Horde.
I’ve been Horde since Day 1 and will remain so.
All besties and friends are Horde only as well.
I’m just saying.

Such a sad waste of potential. There are so many ways they could make PvP work, which is the only real argument against this atm. Maybe with enough community outcry we’ll get it in the future. I rarely post, but I’ve logged into the forums to voice my opinion on this.

Oh great. That’s awesome. Factions have been a part of WoW since day one, so has ganking. If you don’t like the Alliance that’s fine, plenty of us love being space goats.

What identity does the Alliance even have? Humans won’t even look like the descendants of Vrykul after the new customization options come in. Oh wow I’m part of some EU-style globalist organization, I really identify with this.

It is pretty disappointing that some sort of change wasn’t made.
Cross faction grouping would have made the most sense. Especially with the way the last little video with Thrall and Jaina went, but I guess we get to continue with the stupid faction divide. At this point it’s pretty played out and doesn’t make the most sense. All these world ending events we band together over only to start squabbling soon as it’s over rolls eyes.

Of course the “breaking the cycle” stuff was forgotten 5 seconds after it was said. The same thing happened in Pandaria, we forgot the lesson we were taught there 5 seconds after we left the continent.

Knowing Blizzard, they’ll probably have the faction war break out in full force the instant both factions reach the Shadowlands. Even amidst the crisis with the souls going to the Maw and people actually trying to save the cosmos.

Yeah - that’s effectively a merge.

Gameplay =/= lore. They haven’t forgotten any of the breaking the cycle stuff, Baine is literally chilling in Stormwind in 8.3. But I think they know that removing factions in a game built around factions would take a lot of work and would probably delay shadowlands a bit.

I just think they need to move past your race deciding what faction you belong to. The Tauren for sure could be seen among the Alliance. As could the Nightborn, Highmountain Tauren, and maybe Bloodelves. Same can be said for some of the races in the Alliance choosing to be part of the Horde.

I mean it doesn’t have to be an all or nothing. Not every single Human should have to be Alliance or agree with Anduin or current ruler. Maybe they defect. I mean I for one don’t support what Tyrande did and may do going forward. So maybe my Druid character would rather leave the Alliance.

Ya sure I don’t agree with what happened with the Horde either but it was Sylvanas and the Horde has moved past it and is better for it. Again this is about player agency and the factions changing over time to mean different things or to be ruled by different people. I shouldn’t need to do a paid faction change. I want to be the same race and play for the team I support.

Simple as that. Blizzard has the tech to make it happen.

Thrall: Horde… Alliance… We’ve come to this crossroad again and again Jaina. It always falls apart. What’s different this time?
Jaina: We are.

Saurfang: Zek’han, where is our home?
Zek’han: Orgrimmar?
Saurfang: Not our city…our home.
Zek’han: Azeroth.
Anduin: And ours?
Jaina: Azeroth.
Anduin: Right now, there are only two forces in this world that matter. One bent on harming our world…
Saurfang: And one that will protect her!
Zek’han: So, what are we doing?
Saurfang: Breaking the cycle.

You can’t trust Blizzard’s narrative. It’s full of bullpocky.

I think they also know…

Yes, removing or merging the factions would be a terrible idea. No argument there.

Letting people elect to run instanced content with friends regardless of faction however, would be a good idea that could prolong the life of the game, and wouldn’t make any real change to the game for the people who are disinterested in such a thing.

Nah you can guarentee there would be a t least 1 group somewhere that would side with the Aliens

Faction divisions and server divisions = profit
It’ll never change so long as they can make so much as a single sale on the system.

It is 100% shiet that there’s a direct monetary incentive for Blizzard to not improve aspects of their game.

If not all, atleast some raids being allowed to play cross faction would be suited.

For example those by lore & story standards where the Horde & Alliance are working together – An example being such as Tomb of Sargeras, that way it’s not complete unison but it allows players to become excited for a new feature once in a while - Towards the unique and rare opportunity to unite with friends cross-faction. Have this incorporated to odd events here & there (Such as the initial assault on the Broken Shore), and I feel we’d have a cool “Oh nice! It’s one of the X Faction raid / events!” when they come by.

Here’s hoping that if we keep making some noise on the forums Blizzard will realize cross faction communication and grouping is what is wanted. Maybe in 9.1 :joy:

Well, wanted by some anyway. Hardly a universal sentiment.
