Like watching Thrall and Anduin standing together in Orgrimmar with our Alliance character honoring the fall of Saurfang? Or Saurfang wielding Varian’s sword against Sylvanas? Or the battle cry of home “For Azeroth!”
Yeah, dude, there were NO hints or reasons. Not like we’ve ever banded together all the races and class factions together to stand against fighting an overwhelming evil bent on world destruction. >.>
That happens like…every expansion since MoP? Or maybe it was the end of Cata. Or maybe it was WotLK with the cross-faction tournament. Why did people think this one is special?
checks realmpop and still sees the exact same balance of factions that was at the start of BFA hmmmmmmm its almost like this fact you state here isnt a fact at all.
They have been doing the alliance and horde are doing the same thing since TBC, at this point it feels super forced since almost every xpac has required the horde and alliance to team up.
If warcraft had never gone MMO and been an RTS, the team up would have become canon and they could have gone from there.
Instead we team up to kill the planet smashing supergods while we fight over a lumber in warsong gulch. Lumber that will then get used for our combined war effort, that we do as a team.
You are vastly mistaken, but that’s what happens when you make assumptions about other people’s posts. Players should not be bound to factions, but characters should be.
All of which have purposes greater than the Alliance or the Horde, none of which our characters claim full and sole membership in. We are either of the Alliance, or we are of the Horde. We may help the Argents or the Cenarions, or the Champions, but we are not part of them.
You’ll see in my other posts that I’m OK with cross-faction grouping across Covenant lines (or across class lines, considering the Legion Order Halls), because that makes sense. We are members of those groups (again, or classes). But GenericAlliancePaladin grouping up wth GenericHordeShaman to go clear out Dire Maul simply because their players are good buddies does not make sense.
Maybe you all should have bought a game that didn’t have a faction conflict rather than a game that does instead of trying to change one of the underlying game mechanics
We share the world, yes. We might respect someone from another faction, yes. We even can band together toward a common enemy from time to time, yes yes yes.
That does NOT mean, however, that we see eye to eye on every level from a faction to faction stand-point. Without getting into the politics themselves (just doing it to drive a point), go tell the US and China or Russia to join forces and ‘merge’. Like that ever is going to happen…
If that’s what makes WoW for you, then you have a choice not to group with the other faction. Remain enemies. Roleplay your faction pride & identity to your heart’s content. Nothing will change for you. What’s your problem with letting people play together if they want to? That’s their choice.
The factions don’t need to be merged. They can remain as they are. However individual players should have the option to play with people on the other faction should they want to. There is nothing stopping an American, Chinese and Russian individuals from being friends, doing stuff together, chatting, trading, etc. They have that option, and it doesn’t invalidate their nations. Do you get it?
Here is something I remember in vanilla wow both factions used to be able to communicate with one another, then some Alliance and Horde players started being super toxic to one another.
Blizz to solve this issue decided to create a chat divide to prevent this.
One can argue that our characters are our avatars in game, if we don’t see the point in the faction, should our character be forced into one or the other after a certain point?
In case you have missed it, there are those of us that want our characters to have that greater purpose. Like myself, if I could have, I would have broken from the Horde shortly after the BFA intro event, if not after Teldrassil, and only done Magni’s bidding through out BFA.
Truthfully I’d rather have it be: generic Alliance Paladin joins with Generic Horde Shaman in order to stop the shadow council from setting up shop in Dire Maul. If nothing else, I’d at least be happy to group with alliance, or Horde on my alliance toons, on a case by case basis.
The reasoning can be RP or lore based, but the effect could easily be allowing friends to play with each other.
The factions sing kumbaya literally every single expac. Since WC3 in fact. The faction leaders sing kumbaya all the time. Are you brand new to this game/universe?
Your responses are getting old. This has never been a thing, you wished it would be and it didn’t happen. You have two options, keep playing, or don’t. This has never been choose your own adventure style game. It’s World of Warcraft, war is literally in the title, it’s been a things since it’s inception.
I have had times where friends chose to play Horde when I was playing Alliance, I either leveled a toon on their side, or carried on my merry way, knowing full well we have our discussions in voice chats as compared to in the game.
Didn’t think this was a thing, so happy they kept the status quo.
They are fixing the current state of classes, this does not mean no new classes period, this was a glimpse of the content to come, nothing more. To me fixing the older ones takes precedence over offering a new one overall, many agree. Should they add one later on in a content patch wouldn’t you be surprised.
How many did we get in BfA? Why do we need so many races in the first place? Again non issue for me.
I’d say it was great. I get to experience new LK content, so many have wanted this myself included. Diablo 4 looks amazing and I cannot wait for that either. Overwatch 2 looks promising as well, more PvE for those who enjoy that, things will carry over from the original game is a bonus too.
With the coming of covenants, all of this really doesn’t make any sense. Why not make, like, covenant groups that let players communicate and play across faction lines? We’re all heckin’ D E A D anyway, so what does it matter?
Been playing prolly longer than you were alive. Warcraft 1. I love it when people don’t understand basic concepts like ‘the enemy of my enemy…’…yes, FOR A TIME.
