Duration changed from 10 sec to 5 sec and changing from stun to rooting.
This ability crossed from one of the most versatile CCs in game during 5.0 implementation to the worst CC in game in TWW. I get that Hunters are not going to be reworked as they should be but stop breaking anything that could situationally be useful.

Yeah RIP binding you will be missed they really hate this class so do we just complain to microsoft and hope they do something?
This makes zero sense - tar trap is exactly the same effect - AOE root.
Hunter in TWW gets from bad to worse.

Some dev at blizzard clearly hates hunter. They already made the incredibly dumb change in Shadowlands to nerf binding to be basically useless, and now they are just slipping in this second miserable change while the rest of the class, all three specs, and every hero talent tree is legit garbage.
Someone at the company has a grudge against dying to hunters all the time.

I also see this on MMO Champion:
- Ghillie Suit (New) You take 20% reduced damage while Camouflage is active. This effect persists for 3 sec after you leave Camouflage.
Am I just being pessimistic or is this absolute garbage? What is the use case for this? You can’t camo mid combat, and if you’re opening up on something from camo are you not already far away and about to CC / Kite them?

Sounds very much like PVP… possibly the idea is to stop the successful detection of a stealthed hunter trying to open be quite as punishing.
Just guessing though.
even it was usable in combat without feign death, seems terrible only affects one damage tick during camo plus 3 sec. but hey prob better talent than sentinel owl lmao.

Round and Round and Round we go. It was previously attempted to be changed to a root, playbase revolted, and it remained a stun.
Here we are once again…
You can meld/feign then camo but that’s just clunky when they could have just reused the SL feign death conduit. Might be a PvP talent.
If camo was made useable in combat again it’d still be mediocre
maybe if it was 30-35% dr, i’d honestly just change it to be a 1.5s immunity like greater fade priests has. would make sense with the abilitys aesthetic too
If we are getting a second charge of SotF as well as Camo in combat then its not bad as a last ditch thing. It does feel more PvP oriented though.
As for the Binding Shot change, there is a new talent to go with it:
- [Tar-Coated Bindings (New)] Binding Shot’s root duration is increased by 3 sec.
This is literally the Entrapment talent from current Tar Trap. Logic dictates binding shot and tar coated bindings will replace tar trap and something else is going to go into the spot in the tree binding shot currently occupies.
So its less of a nerf and more of a “More reliable tar trap + new talent”.

Even with your assumptions, it’s still a nerf. Tar trap has a further range, lower cooldown, and larger radius. However, with all that said, we need to wait because there’s been no datamined changes for the spec trees, just a few things for the class tree and even those don’t tell us much. Your assumption could be way off. For example, you can already get stampede, concussion shot, and tar trap for 3 different snares, so “logic dictates” hunters don’t need another snare, and yet…hero talents introduced at least one snare for all 3 specs.

I don’t understand why they nerfed Binding Shot to begin with instead of just giving it a target limit, yeah it was crazy to literally pull an entire region of a dungeon then have hunters CC them and demolish at range, but if they just set a target cap to around ~12ish mobs gameplay like that wouldn’t be possible.
Instead they took probably the dumbest path and took a unique piece of utility, one of the only things only a hunter could do, and turned it into a dumb proximal stun ability that only works on demand if you are coordinating with someone who has a knockback.
I haven’t even run Binding Shot in what feels like years now, Scatter Shot provides me with another way to interrupt susceptible adds which is annoying as it removes Serpent Sting, but a hell of a lot better than the crappy binding shot we have currently.
You can trigger it yourself with HET if you really want to.
This is how I used it. Either that or as a way to stop mobs that charge out from the group like in Nokhud.
