Good thing im Night Fae. The Winter Queen will save us all.
Dam pigeon queen died
She will be next I’m sure.
She had it commin’
The bugged devos fight! It can’t happen without her!
…its finally over.
Im so upset right now. She’s coming back, right?
She’s likely not dead. Probably just wounded in the same way Uther was. Anduin was there to extract the “key,” not necessarily to kill the Archon.
In-game text reveals that the death of the archon results in the death of Bastion entirely. Unless 9.1 is going to remove the Kyrian covenant, the archon is still alive.
The lore right now implies that you can’t kill eternal ones without destroying the realms they rule over.
I hope she isn’t dead!
Archon Dies
John Hight: OH NO!..anyways…
Tis but a scratch. I’m sure she’s fine!
Im still left scratchin my head over actually “dying” in a land where the dead head to after life, of someone (someTHING?) preordained to preside over the aforementioned dead… it’s gotta be just me
Also Archon dying to heroic leap is weak sauce.
Worst covenant confirmed.
Think if anyone in the Shadowlands “die” they are dead dead. Like no afterlife, just cease to exist.
Hmmm that may well be. But isnt that somewhat antithetical to the kyrians own mantra? I may be mistaken, but i thought the kyrians are the ones who pose the premise “life is constantly recycled”… not saying youre wrong at all, i just find this particularly confusing
She’ll be back stronger than ever.
Maybe it’s the destruction of the “key” that destroys the realm rather than killing the Eternal One, and that normally when an Eternal One dies, the “key” is destroyed along with the Eternal One.
Since the “key” was extracted as part of killing the Archon, that could mean that Bastion still exists while the Archon is dead for good, but the “key” having been brought to the Maw might mean that Bastion will die if the “key” isn’t returned and a new Archon is not named.
In short, this story thread is probably going to end with Kleia becoming the new Archon or something, because reasons.
Or maybe they’re just going to go full on “Rule of Cool” and ignore everything they ever said about what happens when an Eternal One dies just to have their “An Eternal One has been slain and is dead for good, isn’t this the coolest thing ever?” moment.
Either way, the Archon is most likely dead for good, and Kleia will probably become the new Archon.
Sending the literal archon out to get killed by a bunch of skeletons in a failed mission table attempt would make for some good chuckles.
In the cinematic, her hand was still moving as the blade was pulled out.
She may not be quite dead yet.
I think this line of ingame text is being overblown, considering that it’s not something almost any player would ever see and might have come from a different iteration of the fight.
Still I hope the Archon is not dead.
Sure, but it at least provides some context as to what may have been the original intent behind the lore of the eternal ones. If there was an iteration of the fight where Devos attacked Kyrestia, and Kyrestia’s death caused that message, I would take it as a lore bit rather than random gameplay text.
Also, the last we see of Kyrestia, she’s alive. That’s why we see her hand reaching out as the blade is withdrawn. They didn’t need to show us this. They could have easily left her limp.
Taken together, I feel pretty confident in saying she’s still alive, just in a very bad state.
