I can already see a whole bunch of you getting ready to flag or “JUST MAKE YOUR OWN GROUP!” but I PROMISE this isn’t a complaint. This is a question that I’ve had for a while.
I’ve been gearing my DK over the past few weeks and on raiderio he’s marked as this hunters alt, so apparently my hunters score is showing up alongside my DKs score?
My question is if someone applies to your group and you see they are an alt with a score you wouldn’t normally consider but their main has a high score, whats the normal process on that when it comes to filling a group?
For our groups we generally treat it the same as if they didn’t have a main with a high score because encounters can be different depending on your class/role. Although generally any keys below 12 we don’t mind too much but after that we like to at least know you’ve done it.
If the main is higher I lax the Ilvl requirement usually and prio invite them.
knowing mechanics > Ilvl for the most part
Raider IO is plain stupid bro, yesterday I did a Tol Dagor + 10 and our healer was complaining about everyone else IO, he spent the whole dungeon mopping the floor from not dodging monster abilities.

i only play this game for 3 months… is imposible to me to have around 2500k io for a +9 dungeon!
COME ON PEOPLE!
I don’t look at main scores. I bring people on the merit of the class they’re currently playing.
Yeah I didn’t see the point of crying about IO at such a low key level.
For me it really depends on a lot of varying factors. Key level, the rest of the group, the main’s io score/role, the alt’s io score/role, which dungeon it is…
I’ll invite an alt if I’m on an alt. If I’m on my main, you’re only getting in on the score of the toon you’re on.
This lol, if its key pushing then bring that character you have the rating of otherwise its a low chance of getting in.
RIO is only one of numerous pieces of information we use to fill the 5th spot in our usual Mythic+ group. Obviously, a high RIO is a great sign that the person is familiar with the dungeon, its pulls, its shroud or awakening skips, its interrupt and kill orders, its boss mechanics and how the affixes change the behavior of a run. But we also look at ilvl and specialization. It’s the complete package. After like 3k IO it doesn’t even matter. What’s the difference between 3.8k and 4.4k? Both of those players know the system, clearly. It becomes “how geared are they and what spec are they playing?”.
If it’s a brand new expansion and everyone how “low” relative scores - ilvl and spec will become even more important.
Finally, to directly answer your question; I don’t really care what your main’s score is - I care what that character’s score is in the same way your main’s ilvl and spec is irrelevant.

Yeah, pretty much all the people I’ve ever met who bawk at IO scores are full of lulz
This is actually one of the times I go by ilvl, cloak level, and corruptions. Like if someone has 700 io but their main has 3000 io I know that they are competent but if they are at 440ilvl with a rank 3 cloak and no corruption it doesn’t matter. Competency isn’t worth much if you’re doing less than half my dps over all.
I just check armory to see if their rings are enchanted and their slots are gemmed.
I dont care what your main io score is your new alt isn’t doing a 15
