Ring of Peace; Diffuse Magic

I’m maining MW for the first time in 9.2 and really enjoying it so far. I primarily do m+ content. I had a few questions about some spells.

The first is Ring of Peace. I was curious to know of how many m+ skips people know of. All I know of is the group in Mists before the first boss after you round the first corner. I saw another MW try to Ring of Peace the closest mob then sneak by, but didn’t know it far enough away. They said it usually works.

In SoA is it possible to skip the group at the top of the last stairs with Ring of Peace? You know, the place where everyone tries to jump on the ledge.

Also, what are some other ways that you use it. I keep hearing about how powerful it is and feel that I’m not utilizing it enough.

The next question is about Diffuse Magic. I’ve been using Dampen Harm even though all of the guides I’ve seen say to use Diffuse Magic. The reason is I’m not sure where the best places to use it are. The last guide I watched talked about how powerful it is if you know when to use it, but never shared when/where to use it. Where are some good places to use Diffuse Magic in m+?

Thanks.

Be warned, Para + RoP skips are highly contingent on the people you’re running with knowing that para does not prevent combat when you move too close to a target like a rogue’s sap or a demon hunter’s imprison.

That being said, you can skip in Mists and SoA like you’ve stated and the first pack in ToP as well.

These skips are usually not worth doing with para + RoP unless absolutely necessary though, because they have a good chance of failing due to people not waiting for the RoP’d target to land or running too close to the target.

That ^^

But yes, SoA before 3rd boss and Mists corner are the usual ones. Actually never tried ToP.

MW is fun indeed. I played MW in season 2as an alt, but swapped to BM this season and I love it. Now I hate my bear. And I was bear main for S1 and S2 lmao

Most boss fights have magic damage. AFAIK like 90% of all AoE damage is magic damage.
If you aren’t sure, 20% DR is still pretty good on its own.

3 main uses, besides skip

  1. Kick cast
  2. Protect tank, especially in SOA cats, or Halls dogs.
  3. If 1 mob is far away, you can always bring it in closer for AoE.

SD dungeon is all AoE magic pulses for example.

As for RoP skip, extra note, you want max distance kick, so you basically place it basically by the center of it to kick mob in the right direction and Para on max range. On my secondary action bar, I got RoP on #2 and Para on #3 (Crackling is on #1 to tag/explosives) So once I RoP, I slowly walk to twards it spamming Para until it clicks.

it’s not just a personal dr. it also reverses some spells back into the mobs that cast them. the debuff the casters put on you (not suppression, the ticking dot) can be put back into them with it. it’s a decent dps boost.

In addition to the skips w/Paralysis, it has a number of other fantastic uses.
-You can scoot a ranged mob closer to the rest of the group.
-The area denial can help save a tank when they’re getting trucked, like the Gargons in HoA, etc. It’s great especially during Necrotic week to help a tank drop stacks.
-During Sanguine, you can “boop” mobs out of the puddles- it’s especially helpful for archer-style mobs that can’t be moved with interrupts.
-You can also use it to stop a dangerous ability if all else fails (though Leg Sweep and Para will frequently be preferred).

Any place with significant and predictable magic damage really. On large group magic damage events, it can be nice to have ReM on your party members and Vivify Cleave them with DM up so you don’t need to worry about yourself as much for a moment. For a few examples of those, and others where it is good to use:
-Echelon when the Stonefiends come out
-High Adjudicator Aleez if you’re targeted by one of the Ghosts
-Lord Chamberlain when you’re soaking a beam
-Soaking orbs on Kryxis
-The caster trash in SD when you get stacks of the debuff
-Tarvold’s Castigate
-Beryllia, you can save an extra orb or two for your teammates
-Lots of Plaguefall trash I believe
-Domina Venomblade, if you get targeted by Shadow Ambush
-Margrave Stradama, during Infectious Rain (not the one you’re deleting with Revival of course)
-Portal trash in ToP has a TON of magic damage and debuffs
-Kul’Tharok, if you get Phantasmal Parasite on you (you should prioritize DPS when it comes to dispels on that fight)
-Nar’Zudah (the named elite in NW) can get hectic with all the accompanying casters, and on Fort weeks the Necromancer pulls, particularly if the Mages aren’t being handled well
-Oryphrion, if your party needs you to soak a couple orbs (depending on key level), or if you are targeted by Purifying Blast
-Devos, during transition phase (again, not the one you’re countering with Revival)
-Enraged Spirits in DoS
-Hakkar, to reduce the absorb of Blood Barrier
-Xy’Exa, to reduce Arcane Lightning damage

Diffuse is often better due to most damage you take as a non tank being magic based.

There’s also a lot of boss mechanics where they put our two dangerous debuffs (like Devos in spires) and if one is on you, you can defuse it and dispel the other person. Same for that one boss in theatre of pain (can’t think of his name right now).

You almost want to be targeted with things. Makes so many mechanics easy. I love it.
